DC Kupwara reviews winter stocking and preparedness

KUPWARA, NOVEMBER 14: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse today convened a meeting of all concerned officers to review the preparations for upcoming winter season.

During the meeting, the DC reviewed status of advanced stocking and supply position of ration,LPG, fuel especially in snow bound areas including border areas of Karnah, Keran and Machill.

Deputy Commissioner was appraised regarding preparedness of various executing agencies consisting R&B, PMGSY, MED, BEACON, Municipal Committees with respect to Snow clearance activities.

Executive Engineers PDD were directed to ensure sufficient buffer stock of transformers,T-oil, poles and cables as well as deployment of quick response teams to address issues of power supply during snowfall.

Preparedness made by other departments like health,PHE, Forest, RDD was also discussed in detailed during the meeting.

All the line departments especially R&B/MED, PDD, PHE, health and Police were directed to ensure their control rooms functional in addition to DDMA control room for timely response to the situation to address the emerging issues during winters and emergencies.

The DC directed to augment facilities at designated Shelter accommodations at Panzgam, Meelyal and Kalaroose so that stranded passengers of snow bound areas of Karnah, Keran and Machill are properly accommodated in case of road closure during heavy snowfall.

It was also informed in the meeting that Mock Drill will be conducted to assess the preparations by department on ground so as to tackle any emergency situation during heavy snowfall/bad weather.

DC emphasised on coordinated and quick response from all departments during emergencies to minimise inconvenience to general public.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Kupwara, Muft Fareed u din; ADC Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad; ADC Handwara, Javaid Naseem Masoodi; ASP Kupwara,ACR, SDM Lolab, ACD, Executive Engineers of PHE, R&B, PMGSY,MED and other concerned officers.

A two-day workshop for MHCS/MCS personnel was held at DTC, DPL Kupwara from November 13–14. Participants received interactive sessions and detailed briefings from senior officers on proper maintenance of police records as per Police Rules. The SSP Kupwara Shri Syed Al-Tahir Gilani attended the workshop, providing guidance and motivation. An evaluation test was conducted to assess learning and gather feedback.

The District Police Kupwara inaugurated the Women’s T20 Knockout Cricket Tournament 2025–26 with an energetic opening marked by strong community participation. SSP Kupwara Al Tahir Gilani, accompanied by DySP DAR Gulzar Rashid and other officers, presided over the ceremony.The tournament began with a thrilling encounter in which WCC Kupwara defeated Royal Star Lolab by 46 runs, setting a vibrant tone for the competition featuring 12 women’s teams.
