“We will do everything possible to make your stay memorable and comfortable in Pahalgam ma’am.”
Said Tauveer, a guide who led us to the divine Tulian Lake in Pahalgam, in 2022.
On our way back, we faced the worst downpour of our lives- while on horseback! Tauveer and the other guide gave us shelter in a small cottage, his home. We were shivering and crying due to cold and the entire family got to work to make us feel safe, at home. When I couldn’t get off the horse due to frostbite, Tauveer pulled me down, hoisted me on his back and walked all the way to the hotel.
This is the memory I have of our trip to Tulian Lake, through Baisaran and Aru valley.

Now, seeing the place that is so close to our heart all bloodied and screams echoing through the valley- made us numb & breathless. Our heart goes out to all the innocents and we mourn the inexplicable sense of loss that the families of the deceased are experiencing.

We stand in solidarity and deeply condemn the cowardly act of terrorism. And to the people of Kashmir, to Tauveer and so many others who vouched for the fact that they will do whatever it takes to safeguard tourists & innocents- don’t let terror & terrorism break your undying spirit.
