DC Kupwara reviews arrangements for conduct of Tiranga Rally

KUPWARA, JULY 31: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the arrangements for conducting of Tiranga Rally in the district ahead of the celebration of Independence Day 2025.

It was given out that the Tiranga rally will be held on 12th August and will be flagged-off from War Memorial Kupwara which shall go through different streets of Kupwara Town and will culminate at Galizoo Stadium.

On the occasion, DC impressed upon the concerned officers to work with added zeal and coordination to ensure smooth and festive conduct of the Tiranga Rally.

DC took a detailed review of the arrangements which include transport, water, Mobile Medical Unit, participation of employees and field functionaries, availability of National flags, refreshment among others.

She directed the concerned officers to ensure active participation of their officials, field functionaries and other stakeholders in the Tiranga Rally to ensure smooth and vibrant conduct of the rally.

To ensure seamless arrangements in place, it was given out that a Control Room will be set up in the DC office for timely coordination with the line departments.

SSP Kupwara, Gulam Jeelani; ADC Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad; ACR, Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad; Tehsildar Kupwara, CDPO Kupwara, besides, officers and officials from Youth Services & Sports, RDD, CSC, Education, Traffic, MC Kupwara attended the meeting.

DC, SSP assess damages, restoration measures on Doda-Kishtwar National Highway ย 

DODA, JULY 30: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda Harvinder Singh along with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandeep Kumar Mehta today inspected the Doda-Kishtwar National Highway to assess the ground situation.

The officers took stock of the damages caused by heavy rains and landslides along the highway and directed the concerned authorities to ensure immediate clearance of all blocked road stretches to restore normal traffic movement. Instructions were also issued for the swift restoration of essential services, particularly water supply and electricity, in affected areas.

Emphasizing public safety, the DC appealed to the residents to stay away from rivers, streams, and other water bodies, as a precautionary measure during the ongoing monsoon season.

Srinagar, July 30: A Lt Colonel and an Army jawan died while three officers injured after a boulder hit an Army vehicle in the Leh area today morning, officials said.

According to the reports, an Army vehicle was hit by the boulder when an Army convoy was moving from Durbuk to Chongtash at around 11:30 am.

He said that in the incident one Lt Col and a jawan were killed while two major rank officers and a captain were injured. "The injured have veen shifted to an Army hospital in Leh for treatment," he said.

The deceased have been identified as Lieutenant Colonel Bhanu Pratap Singh and Lance Dafadar Daljeet Singh. The injured have been identified as Major Mayank Shubham, Major Amit Dixit and Captain Gaurav.

Four Persons From Bandipora Arrested Along With He**in In Udhampur: Police

Jammu, July 30: Police on Wednesday said that they have apprehended four persons Along with He**in in Udhampur district.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that a 0olice team from Police Post Tikri led by its ICPP while performing routine vehicle checking at Tikri naka point, NHW recovered 71.95 grams of He**in (Chitta) like substance from 04 narco smugglers who were travelling in a vehicle bearing Registeration No. JK15C-2964 which was on its way from Jammu towards Srinagar, who have been arrested.

The police spokesman identified the arrested persons as Mohd. Younis Malla S/O Mohd Yaqoob.Malla R/O Shilvat, Bandipora.(Driver), Wahid Maqbool S/O Mohd. Maqbool Mir R/O Sumbal, Bandipora, Qaiser Ahmed Ganie S/O Nisar Ahmed R/O Arampora Sumbal, Bandipora and Ahmed Ganie S/O Ghulam Nabi Mir R/O Shilvat Sumbal, Bandipora.

In this connection, a case FIR No. 117/2025 under sections 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Rehambal and further investigation is going on, reads the statement.(GNS)

02 Terrorists killed In Anti-Infiltration Operation In Poonch

Srinagar, July 30: Army on Wednesday said that two terrorists have been killed in an Anti-Infiltration operation at forward post at Kasaliyan area of Poonch district on Wednesday.

Taking on micro-blogging platform X, the army's WhiteKnight Corps wrote, "In a successful anti-infiltration operation, alert troops of the IndianArmy eliminated two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control. Swift action and accurate firepower thwarted the nefarious designs. Three weapons have been recovered.

Synergistic and synchronised intelligence inputs from own intelligence units and JKP led to a successful operation. Operation in progress, reads the post.(GNS)

Drug Control Authority Kulgam seizes huge quantity of contraband formulations/ scheduled drugsย  at Pahloo

Erring Medical shop sealed on the spot, further investigation called

KULGAM, JULY 29: A team of Drug Control Authorities of district Kulgam seized a huge quantity of contraband formulations/ scheduled drugsย  in Pahloo area of Kulgam.ย ย 

The drugs were recovered from a medical shop, after a surprise raid for different violations with respect to the conditions of licences, non maintenance of records and non disclosure of information under various provisions of Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 & Rules thereunder.ย 

The shop was sealed on the spot u/s 22(d) of Drugs Act, and further investigation was taken up.

The drive was part of continued efforts to plug gaps in the misuse of habit forming drugs especially the drugs falling under scheduled category and to bring transparency in sale and purchase of all medicines available to the patients/ general public.

DC Srinagar reviews progress of PM Surya Ghar- Muft Bijli Yojana; Model Solar Village Scheme

SRINAGAR, JULY 29: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo (Chairman Monitoring and Management Committee PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana) today chaired a meeting here at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex to discuss the plan for Model Solar Village in the district.

The meeting discussed threadbare the plan related to the selection of one Model Solar Village in Srinagar district, a component of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY) which focuses on establishing Model Solar Village in the district and raising awareness about the scheme aimed at installing rooftop solar plants.

Speaking on the occasion, DC said that the initiative is aimed at promoting sustainable energy solutions by establishing Model Solar Villages that will serve as a benchmark for harnessing solar energy to meet local electricity needs.ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย

Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Srinagar; Additional Deputy Commissioner; Chief Executive Officer, JAKEDA; Chief Planning Officer, Executive Engineers of KPDCL, Lead District Manager (Banks), Executive Engineers, Executive Engineer JAKEDA and other Officers of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL).
