Srinagar, October 18: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha met His Excellency Batu Sergeyevich Khasikov, Head of the Republic of Kalmykia, Russia, on Saturday to discuss a range of cultural and spiritual cooperation initiatives between India and Russia.
The Lieutenant Governor expressed his gratitude to Khasikov for facilitating the grand visit of the holy relics of Lord Buddha to Russia, calling it a symbol of the deep-rooted cultural and spiritual bond shared by the two nations.
โThe visit of the sacred relics to this land stands as a testimony to the long-standing friendship between India and Russia. As our nations approach 80 years of diplomatic relations in 2027, we look forward to celebrating this milestone through a series of bilateral events and activities,โ Sinha said.
He also announced that an India Festival is being planned in Kalmykia in April 2026, highlighting that India will make every effort to ensure the eventโs success and further strengthen people-to-people connections.
