Abdul Gani Vakil asks Governor to ensure safety & security of Kashmiris

Date:-17/02/2019 Time 10:00Am

Srinagar, Feb 17 (JKNM): Senior Peoples Conference leader and ex minister Abdul Gani Vakil, while condemning harassment and intimidation of innocent Kashmiris in different states of India, has sought Governor administration and Central government’s intervention to ensure safety and security for Kashmiris studying or living outside the state.
In a statement issued to (JKNM), Vakil said that the hate campaign which has been unleashed on Kashmiris outside the state in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack is distressing and will have serious implications.
“The selective harassment of Kashmiri students in different educational institutions at the behest of communal and anti-national forces is unacceptable and must be condemned in strongest words. An attempt is being made to stoke sectarian violence in various places across the country. J&K acceded with India keeping in view the secular-democratic policy adopted by India and any attempt to disrupt communal harmony will not be condoned.
It is against the spirit of our secular and cultural values to use this terror attack as an excuse to target Kashmiris”, he added.
Vakil urged J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik and Central government authorities to take immediate & well coordinated measures to ensure safety and security of Kashmiris living outside the state is made a top priority.
“Students need to be provided with peaceful and secure atmosphere both in and outside colleges & work places. The Governor must immediately follow up the issue of harassment and intimidation with the concerned state governments at the earliest and ensure safety and security of Kashmiri students & professionals working across the country”, he added.
