In a significant breakthrough in its ongoing drive against drug trafficking, Budgam Police apprehended two drug peddlers and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substance.
The action was carried out at WatmagamโMagam Road, where a suspicious passenger auto bearing registration number JK04K-4469 was signaled to stop by a naka police party of Police Station Magam. However, the driver attempted to flee from the spot. Acting swiftly, police personnel on duty chased and successfully intercepted the vehicle.
The vehicle was being driven by Firdous Ahmad Ganie, S/o Gh. Mohammad, R/o Peth Kanihama, and was accompanied by Naseer Ahmad Mir (Galwan), S/o Ab Gaffar, R/o Mazhama.
During the search of the vehicle, a nylon bag concealed beneath the driverโs seat was recovered. Upon examination, it was found to contain approximately two (02) kilograms and 14 grams of crushed b**g patri (cannabis-like substance).
Accordingly, FIR No. 44/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Magam. The vehicle used in the commission of the offence has also been seized, and both accused persons have been taken into custody. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
