Miles for Smiles organised by Government Dental College and Hospital

The sports Committee (2026–27), Government Dental College & Hospital, Srinagar, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kaur Bali, Principal/Dean, Government Dental College & Hospital, Srinagar, successfully organized a trekking event titled “Miles for Smiles” on 6th June 2026 at the scenic Shankaracharya Hills, Srinagar. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, resident doctors, students, and staff, who came together to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and a spirit of camaraderie. The trek commenced from the designated starting point near the UN Office, Gupkar Road, and served as a unique platform to encourage healthy lifestyles while appreciating the natural beauty of Kashmir.

The event was conceived with the objective of fostering recreation, teamwork, and wellness among members of the institution. Participants engaged in a refreshing outdoor experience that emphasized the importance of regular physical activity, environmental appreciation, and social bonding. The organizers expressed their commitment to conducting similar activities in the future to strengthen the culture of health promotion and holistic development within the institution. The “Miles for Smiles” trek concluded successfully, leaving participants motivated, energized, and inspired to embrace healthier lifestyles.

On the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kaur Bali, Principal/Dean, Government Dental College & Hospital, Srinagar, conveyed her sincere appreciation and gratitude to all the concerned authorities whose support and cooperation ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the event. She particularly acknowledged the invaluable support extended by the Jammu & Kashmir Police, especially the concerned police unit and officers, for their coordination and support in facilitating the trekking programme. She also thanked the faculty members, resident doctors, students, staff, and members of the Sports Committee for their enthusiastic participation and collective efforts in making the event a memorable success.
