Paperwork completed to provide land to landless flood-hit victims: CM Omar

=>Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said that the paperwork to provide land to landless flood-hit people has been completed and that there will be no discrimination in providing relief.

Replying to a query on relief measures for flood-affected people, CM Omar said there is no fresh policy for flood-hit families as there was no need for one.

“As far as the landless people are concerned, the paperwork has been completed,” he said, adding that they will receive land under the PMAY pattern.

The Chief Minister further said that the assessment has been conducted by the central team and the Union Agriculture Minister, who found that Jammu had suffered losses similar to those faced by Kashmir in 2014.

He added that the government has written to the Centre regarding the relief package, and once received, it will be disbursed without any discrimination. (KNO)

“Sarei Raaz Khuul Dunga,” Says Deputy CM as House Erupts Over Cross-Voting Row With "Vote Choori" Slogans
NC, BJP Trade Barbs; Sajad Lone Alleges Match-Fixing in Rajya Sabha Polls

=>The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes on Monday as the controversy over alleged cross-voting in the recent Rajya Sabha elections resurfaced during Question Hour.

As per Kashmir News Corner — KNC, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary stirred a fresh political storm after directly accusing the National Conference (NC) of “stealing four votes” in the Upper House elections.

“Yesterday, you stole four votes. If I start speaking, no one will remain seated here. Let us allow a secret to remain a secret,” Choudhary remarked, triggering chaos in the House.

NC legislators hit back, shouting slogans of “Vote chor, vote chor!” (vote stealers) toward the treasury benches. The session briefly descended into disorder as members from both sides exchanged accusations.

Amid the din, Peoples Conference President Sajad Gani Lone alleged that both parties were complicit, saying, “It was match-fixing between NC and BJP." (KNC)

BJP Rejects Farooq Abdullah’s Fabrications, Holds NC Accountable for Internal Failure in Rajya Sabha Polls
Demands National Conference should consider a lie detector test for its MLAs to clear the air

=>Spokesperson of BJP J&K Manzoor Bhat today issued a forceful rejection of the baseless allegations made by National Conference Dr. Farooq Abdullah that the BJP solicited the National Conference’s help to win the recent Rajya Sabha elections is a blatant lie and completely false.

The brewing rift within the National Conference is a direct result of their own failure and internal dissatisfaction. This infighting and failure to govern will sink their party on its own.

The BJP has no need to break the National Conference, as its own people are doing that.. We have no requirement, nor any intention, to form an alliance with the National Conference. Our party is the largest opposition party in Jammu and Kashmir, having received a clear mandate to champion the people's issues and hold the current administration accountable.’he said

NC mishandled 4th RS seat, must probe cross-voting: Mir

=>All India Congress Committee General Secretary, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, today criticized the National Conference (NC) for what he described as “mishandling” and “lack of seriousness” in the recent Rajya Sabha elections, which resulted in the BJP winning one of the four seats from Jammu and Kashmir despite having fewer numbers in the Assembly.

While talking to reporters in Anantnag, Mir said the Congress had welcomed the notification for the four Rajya Sabha seats, which had been pending for a long time. “The first thing to be happy about was the notification of four Rajya Sabha seats. These four members will now go to the Upper House of Parliament and speak for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who were unrepresented till now,” he said.

However, Mir noted that the results did not match the opposition’s expectations. “Given the composition visible in the Assembly, there was scope for four non-BJP seats. But the result came out as three, and one was lost. Fundamentally, I feel our single largest party, the National Conference, which holds the leadership of the alliance, did not take the fourth seat seriously. It seemed for a long time that they had left that contest midway,” Mir said.

He criticized NC’s lack of follow-up with members who could have influenced the outcome. “One member was in jail but had a postal ballot. No one approached him, and that member was important. One or two members abstained from voting-that should not have happened either; it was a matter of persuasion. And the cross-voting by three or four people-why did it happen, and who did it? It is the responsibility of the leadership that should have coordinated better,” he said.

Mir added that those who betrayed the alliance must be identified. “As the NC itself admitted, some of those who attended meetings, shared meals, and stood with us later stabbed us in the back. They know best who these people are and what elements betrayed the alliance,” he said.
When asked whether he believed the National Conference had deliberately allowed the BJP to win, Mir said, “I will not say they put the seat in BJP’s lap, but the management was entirely in their hands. The political bargaining and coordination had to be done by them because they were the single largest party and had the lead role in this arrangement. The kind of campaigning, outreach, and convincing that should have happened was not done,” he said.

Mir further reiterated that the BJP lacked the numbers to win the seat on its own, suggesting that “cross-voting and internal lapses” within the opposition enabled the party’s victory. He said the NC must reflect on why and how such a lapse occurred, especially when the arithmetic favored the opposition.

Mian Altaf backs Ruhullah, warns CM Omar on governance, jobs
Says public concerns ignored as leadership debates BJP ties

=> Senior National Conference (NC) leader and Member of Parliament from Anantnag-Rajouri constituency, Mian Altaf Ahmad Larvi on Sunday said that no meaningful political or administrative progress has taken place in Jammu and Kashmir since the formation of the new government.

“There have been no positive steps on political issues in J&K since this government took charge,” Larvi said, while speaking at the 4th Halla Bolle Conclave at Radisson Collection, Srinagar, hinting at his support for fellow party leader Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi’s criticism over the NC government's failure in upholding its 2024 poll promises.

As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), he said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah should introspect and focus on governance rather than rhetoric. “It will be wrong if I say Omar Sahib is on the right track—that would be deceiving him. He must see what rights and limits he has and how he can better serve the people who elected him,” Larvi said.

The NC MP said Kashmir’s political leadership has become consumed by debates over who aligns with or opposes the BJP, while people’s concerns remain ignored. “The Chief Minister should be the one talking about the people’s welfare,” he said.

Criticising the government for failing to start recruitment drives, Larvi said thousands of educated youth in J&K are growing hopeless. “Many have postgraduate and PhD degrees, but there has been no recruitment yet. The process should have started from day one with advertisements issued to recruitment agencies,” he said, adding that it is the duty of elected representatives to raise public issues and fight for their rights.

Reacting to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s remarks on smart meter installation, Larvi said, “It would be better for Omar Sahib to speak thoughtfully and with understanding.”

On the Deputy Chief Minister’s comments targeting Aga Ruhullah, Larvi remarked, “Everyone knows who Aga Ruhullah is. Anyone speaking against him will not harm his credibility.”—(KNO)

MP Aga Rahullah slams Omar Abdullah for ‘backtracking on promises’
Asks CM don’t be like a dictator

=> National Conference (NC) Member of Parliament Aga Rahullah on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister and party vice-president Omar Abdullah, accusing him of backtracking on promises made to the public ahead of the last Assembly elections.

Talking to reporters, Rahullah said Omar Abdullah had sought votes on the assurance that electricity meters would be removed if the NC returned to power. “Before the Assembly elections, he sought votes on various promises. He promised that his party would remove electricity meters if voted to power. Now he is saying meters are necessary. I am not against meters, but first improve people’s living conditions,” Rahullah asked, according to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).

Questioning the party’s performance, Rahullah said he felt embarrassed to seek votes from people in Budgam on the basis of the same unfulfilled promises.

“On what grounds should I go to the people and seek votes again? They should tell what they have done on political aspirations. Even the reservation issue is in their hands, which they can resolve within three days, but they did nothing,” he said.

He accused the government of neglecting the youth and “pushing them to the wall”. “You say you won’t come under pressure. You don’t have to show dictatorship. If you don’t want to come under pressure, then LG rule was the same, as even the LG did not come under pressure,” he said, drawing a comparison between the current government and the previous administration under the Lieutenant Governor.

Rahullah said the government should have taken confidence-building measures before seeking public support. “You have to be accountable and responsible,” he added.

Amid growing internal discontent, Rahullah has refused to campaign for NC candidate Aga Mehmood in Budgam, indicating a widening rift within the party ahead of the polls. (KINS)
