JDU President G.M. Shaheen Calls on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha

Firmly Demands Rehabilitation of Kashmiri Migrants, Full Implementation of PM Package, and Age Relaxation for JKPS Aspirants

Srinagar, Oct 21: JDU Party President Jammu and Kashmir, G.M. Shaheen, today called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha and held a detailed discussion on several critical public issues concerning the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

During the meeting, Mr. Shaheen strongly demanded the immediate rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants and full implementation of the Prime Minister’s Employment Package, stressing that these long-pending commitments must be fulfilled in both letter and spirit.

Mr. Shaheen also pressed for age relaxation for JKPS aspirants, stating that thousands of deserving youth have suffered due to years of unrest and administrative delays. He asserted that the government must show compassion and ensure fair opportunity for all aspirants.

Highlighting the plight of farmers, Mr. Shaheen further demanded the waiver of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans, noting that the farming community continues to face severe economic distress due to repeated losses and poor market support.

The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor gave a patient hearing and assured Mr. Shaheen that the administration would take up the matters seriously and initiate necessary action to resolve these pressing concerns.

Delhi’s air quality plunged dramatically in the aftermath of Diwali fireworks, with a heavy layer of smog blanketing the city and most monitoring stations signalling serious pollution levels.

As of early Tuesday (October 21), most of the city's 38 monitoring stations recorded readings in the ‘red zone’, indicating air quality in the ‘very poor’ to ‘severe’ range. The city’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was around 451 in the early hours — well above the national average — with several areas, including Bawana (423), Wazirpur (408) and Jahangirpuri (404), reporting ‘severe’ levels.

‘Loyalty lies with conscience’: Aga Ruhullah responds to NC Budgam candidate Aga Mehmood’

While I hold respect for my elders in my family, I request them not to belittle my fight (our fight)’

Srinagar, Oct 20: Senior National Conference leader and former minister Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has reacted sharply to remarks made by National Conference candidate Aga Syed Mehmood, who earlier stated that Ruhullah would campaign for the party in the upcoming Budgam Assembly by-election.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ruhullah said his loyalty rests with his conscience and principles, not with narratives being imposed upon him. “My loyalty is to my conscience and principles,” Ruhullah wrote.
While expressing respect for his elders in the family, he urged them not to belittle his political struggle or misrepresent his stance. “While I hold respect for my elders in my family, I request them not to belittle my fight (our fight). If they can’t comprehend it and be part of it, at least don’t drag me and my struggle to this level,” Ruhullah stated.

His remarks came after Aga Syed Mehmood, the National Conference candidate from Budgam, told reporters that Aga Ruhullah would campaign for the party in the upcoming by-election, describing him as a “party man and like my son.” (KNT)

Dr Hamza Wani Appointed as Associate Director at Paras Hospital in Surgical Gastroenterology, GI, HPB, Onco-surgery, Minimal Access & Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Hamza Wani is a highly experienced Surgical Gastroenterologist and currently serves as the Associate Director of Surgical Gastroenterology at Paras Health, Srinagar. With over 13+ years of extensive clinical and academic experience, he specializes in the management of complex gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic, and biliary disorders, with a strong emphasis on minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgical techniques.
He completed his MBBS from Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences, Jammu and Kashmir, and went on to earn his Master’s degree (MS) in General and Minimal Access Surgery from Government Medical College, Srinagar. He later pursued a super-specialty (DrNB) in Surgical Gastroenterology and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery from Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar, one of India’s leading centers for surgical training.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Hamza has worked in several renowned institutions across India. He has held academic positions as Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology at AIIMS Bhopal, and later in the Department of Surgery at Government Medical College, Jammu. He has also served as a Senior Resident at top institutes including AIIMS Bhubaneswar and Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar, where he gained hands-on experience in high-volume centers dealing with complex GI and HPB cases.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Hamza is actively involved in medical teaching and research. He has contributed to various national and international publications and participates regularly in academic conferences and workshops as a faculty member.
