DIG NKR Reviews Independence Day Preparations and Security Arrangements in Sopore.

Sopore, August 10, 2026: DIG North Kashmir Range, Baramulla, Shri Vinod Kumar-IPS, today visited Police District Sopore and chaired a security review meeting with officers of Sopore Police, CAPFs and sister agencies in connection with the forthcoming Independence Day-2026 celebrations.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on security arrangements, deployment plans, area domination, access control, traffic management and coordination among various security agencies to ensure peaceful and smooth conduct of the celebrations.

SSP Sopore gave a detailed presentation on the security and precautionary measures taken so far in the run-up to 15th August, as well as the measures planned for the coming days. He also briefed the DIG NKR on intensified checking and frisking, patrolling, area domination and operational preparedness across the Police District.

A detailed review of the overall security scenario was also conducted. The DIG NKR directed all officers to remain vigilant, strengthen security measures at vulnerable locations, intensify patrolling and checking and ensure effective coordination and timely sharing of intelligence among all agencies.

Emphasis was laid on maintaining a high level of alertness and preparedness while ensuring minimum inconvenience to the general public.

Sopore Police and all participating agencies reiterated their commitment to ensuring safe, peaceful and incident-free Independence Day celebrations across Police District Sopore.

Police and CAPF In Baramulla Celebrate Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign-2026 & 150 Years of Vande Mataram with Grand Participation at DPL Baramulla

August 09: As part of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign-2026 and the commemoration of 150 Years of Vande Mataram, police in Baramulla organised a vibrant programme at District Police Lines (DPL) Baramulla, witnessing enthusiastic participation from police personnel, CAPF personnel and students.

The programme was aimed at promoting patriotism, national unity and respect for the national symbols, while commemorating the enduring legacy of Vande Mataram and encouraging citizens, particularly the youth, to actively participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. A large number of police and CAPF personnel, students and other participants joined the celebrations with patriotic fervour. The event featured the display of the National Flag and participation in patriotic activities, reflecting the spirit of unity and pride in the nation.

The enthusiastic participation of students added special significance to the programme, highlighting the important role of the younger generation in strengthening the values of national unity, integrity and civic responsibility.

Sopore Police Conducts Searches at 26 Locations in UAPA Case Against Jamaat-e-Islami.

Sopore, August 09:- As part of its continued action against proscribed organisations and separatist ecosystems, Sopore Police today conducted coordinated searches at 26 locations across Police District Sopore in connection with an ongoing investigation into a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).

The searches were carried out at residential and other premises linked to JeI leaders, members and activists across different areas of Police District Sopore. The operation was conducted in accordance with due legal procedure and prescribed protocols.

During the searches, incriminating documents, literature and electronic devices were recovered and seized from various premises. The seized material is being examined as part of the ongoing investigation to ascertain further linkages and activities connected with the proscribed organisation.

The operation forms part of Sopore Police’s sustained efforts to dismantle networks and ecosystems associated with proscribed organisations and separatist activities and to take firm action against activities prejudicial to the security, sovereignty and integrity of the nation.

Sopore Police reiterates its commitment to maintaining peace and security and taking stringent action, in accordance with law, against individuals or organisations found involved in unlawful activities.

Further investigation in the case is underway.
