DC Baramulla Cracks Whip on Negligence, Suspends ZEO Boniyar Over Poor Performance

Police Conducts Anti-Drug Awareness Programmes and Village-Level PCPG Meetings under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan In Budgam

May 11: Continuing its sustained efforts under the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan, Police in Budgam conducted a series of anti-drug awareness programmes, community outreach activities, and village-level Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meetings across the district.

As part of the campaign, Police organised Street Plays (Nukkad Nataks) at Mouchwa, awareness interactions with shopkeepers and other dealers at Main Market Soibugh, and a Poster/Slogan Competition at PM Shri GBHS Humhama. In addition, village-level PCPG meetings were held at various locations including Kawoosa Narbal, GMS Zoolwa Mouchwa, Jeelan Abad Humhama, Rathson Beerwah, Hardushurash Khag, Futlipora Pakherpora, and Zabbigullah Hardupanzo.

These programmes were aimed at creating mass awareness regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging active community participation in eradicating the menace from society.

During the interactions, police officers sensitised participants about the importance of remaining vigilant against drug-related activities and urged the general public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in maintaining a safe, healthy, and drug-free society.

Police reiterated its commitment to continue such awareness and enforcement initiatives under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan to safeguard the youth and strengthen the fight against narcotics.

Police Register FIRs Against Srinagar Hotel, Homestay Owners Under Immigration Law

Srinagar, May 11: Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered two separate FIRs against hotel and homestay owners in Srinagar for alleged violations under Section 8(23)B of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, officials said.

According to officials, Police Station Rajbagh registered FIR No. 20/2026 against the owners of Hotel “The Azara” located at Kursoo Rajbagh and “Mehatta Home Stay” situated in Rajbagh area of Srinagar.

Sources said the case was registered under Section 8(23)B of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, which generally pertains to alleged violations linked to mandatory verification, documentation, or reporting norms concerning foreign nationals staying in hotels, guest houses, or homestays.

In a separate action, Rajbagh Police also registered FIR No. 21/2026 under the same legal provision against a local from Gogjibagh Srinagar who is the owner of Khayabaan Homestay located in Gogjibagh area.

Officials, however, did not immediately disclose specific details regarding the alleged violations or whether any foreign nationals were found staying at the establishments during inspection.

Police sources said investigations in both cases have been initiated and further legal proceedings are underway.

Authorities in Kashmir periodically conduct inspections of hotels, guest houses, and homestays to ensure compliance with mandatory guest verification and foreigner reporting regulations, particularly in view of security and immigration monitoring protocols.

Anantnag Police Arrest Drug Peddler, Seize 1.442 Kg G***a in Larnoo; FIR Registered

Anantnag; 11 May:- In continuation of its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Anantnag Police Police achieved another success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering contraband substance from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Larnoo, while conducting evening patrolling in the Sirgan-Hallan crossing area, intercepted one suspicious person. Upon checking, the individual identified as Jahangir Ahmad Khan, son of Mohammad Maqbool Khan, resident of Hallan Nowbugh, was found in possession of contraband substance, suspected to be cannabis (G***a), concealed in a nylon bag.
During the search, approximately 1.442 kilograms of contraband substance in crushed form was recovered and seized as per legal procedures.

In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 26/2026 under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered at Police Station Larnoo, and further investigation has been taken up.

Anantnag Police remains committed towards its mission of making society drug-free and urges the general public to share any information related to drug trafficking or other criminal activities with the nearest police establishment.
