Minimarg, Drass: Asia's longest tunnel project, worth Rs 6,500 crore at Zojila, which will ensure all-weather connectivity between Srinagar and Ladakh, is set to achieve a breakthrough on Tuesday with the completion of over 13 kms of excavation work. NHIDCL Road and Tunnel Projects Authority Engineer Yousef Eshaghpour, says, "It is an iconic project, a national pride. In Asia, it is longest bidirectional single tube at this height.

The height of here is nearing 11,000 feet... you can say about 3 and a half kilometer. So, this gives special feature to that. In winter time, we are having round about temperature minus 35. And more than four and a half months we have lots of difficulty due to snowfall, heavy snowfall and it closes the road. So, this gives all weather connectivity to us, and it uplift the lifestyle of the people in the area and gives connectivity towards the Ladakh from Kashmir. So, you will have always regular road connectivity."
