Swath Naari Sashakt Parivaar Abhiyaan Organised at GMC Anantnag

Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer’s (CMO) office, successfully organised the “Swath Naari Sashakt Parivaar Abhiyaan”, a programme dedicated to women’s health, empowerment, and family well-being.
The event was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Jinab Mian Altaf Ahmad, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address, he underlined the importance of women’s empowerment as the key to strong families and a progressive society, and he commended GMC Anantnag for leading such people-centered initiatives.
Mr. Sandeep Singh Bali, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, was also present and appreciated the efforts of the organisers, assuring full support from the district administration for future programmes of public health and awareness.
The programme was held under the leadership and guidance of Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb, Principal, GMC Anantnag, whose vision and encouragement played a pivotal role in its success.
A significant contribution came from Senior Professor Dr. Sajad Majid Qazi, who provided valuable guidance and motivation throughout the event. His experience and support were instrumental in enriching the academic and community outreach aspects of the programme.
The coordination was led by Dr. Khalid Parvaiz, Chief Medical Officer and District Nodal Officer. From GMC Anantnag, the nodal officers were Dr. Fouzia Nazir, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine, and Dr. Arshid Hassan Siddique, who ensured smooth organisation and meaningful ex*****on of the awareness activities.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty, healthcare professionals, students, and community members. Awareness sessions covered women’s health, maternal and child care, family planning, and preventive healthcare. Speakers emphasized that empowering women lays the foundation of a healthier and more empowered nation.
Dr. Fouzia Nazir stressed the importance of community-driven health initiatives, while Dr. Arshid Hassan Siddique spoke about the need for sustained health education campaigns. Dr. Khalid Parvaiz praised the collaborative spirit of GMC Anantnag and the CMO office in executing the Abhiyaan.
The programme concluded with an interactive session with participants, and the dignitaries’ encouragement was warmly appreciated. The event was hailed as a meaningful step towards creating healthier families and empowering women in the district.
