EPFO Organizes Seminar on PMVBRY at Kupwara
SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 02 Employee's provident fund Organisation (EPFO), Srinagar organised a seminar on the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY) at the Industrial Estate Bremri Kupwara.

The seminar, attended by employers and employees from the local industrial units, focused on creating awareness about the scheme’s objectives, key benefits, and operational framework.

EPFO officials explained how the PMVBRY aims to promote job creation by encouraging employers to hire new workers and integrate them into the formal workforce.

They further highlighted the vital role industries play in effectively utilizing the scheme to generate new employment opportunities and extend social security benefits to first-time employees.

Participants were encouraged to take full advantage of the scheme to support industrial growth and strengthen the region’s workforce.

Pulwama Police Seeks Public Assistance to Trace Missing Girl

Pulwama 02 Dec: Pulwama Police seeks the assistance of the general public in tracing Mehvish Shamim, aged around 20 years, D/O Shamim Ahmad Allie, resident of Okhoo Kakpora, who has been missing since yesterday morning.

The missing report was filed by her uncle Muzamil Ali S/O Ali Mohammad Lone, resident of Okhoo, upon which Police Station Kakpora has taken cognizance and initiated necessary proceedings to trace the missing girl.

DC Bandipora conducts extensive inspection of Developmental Projects

BANDIPORA, DECEMBER 02: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, today conducted a series of inspections across the district to assess the progress of key developmental projects and review critical power infrastructure.

The visit commenced with the inspection of the Construction of Residential Apartments for PRI’s/ Protected Persons at Watapora Bandipora, a major infrastructure project being executed by the Public Works Department (PWD).
The project, with an original cost of β‚Ή614.37 lakh, is currently under ex*****on and is slated for completion by March 2026.

Reviewing the work, the Deputy Commissioner issued clear directions to the executing agency to strictly maintain quality standards, ensure efficient material management, and adopt best-engineering practices during construction. She instructed PWD to expedite the pace of work, deploy adequate manpower, and maintain regular on-site supervision to achieve the targeted completion timeline.
Later, the DC visited Aloosa Bandipora to inspect the Construction of Block Development Council Complex, being executed under the Rural Development Department (RDD).

She reviewed the progress achieved so far and directed the concerned officers to remove bottlenecks, if any, and complete the project within the stipulated timeframe. She reiterated that these residential infrastructures play a vital role in strengthening grassroots governance, and therefore require focused attention.

During the tour, the Deputy Commissioner also visited the Ajar Grid Station to take stock of its functioning, operational capacity, and ongoing maintenance measures.

While interacting with the officials of the Power Development Department, the DC stressed the need to accelerate the installation of smart meters across all areas of the district.
She emphasised that smart metering will improve power regulation, reduce technical and commercial losses, and ensure better service delivery to consumers.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Development Bandipora, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Bandipora, AEE R&B Bandipora and other concerned field officials.

Chairman DLSA Srinagar reviews functioning of LADCs, PLVs

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 02: A review meeting of the Legal Aid Defence Counsels (LADCs) was convened today by Haq Nawaz Zargar, Principal District & Sessions Judge (Chairman District Legal Services Authority) Srinagar, at the District Court Complex Srinagar, in the presence of Tabasum Qadir Parray, Sub-Judge/ Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Srinagar.

The meeting was held to review the functioning, efficiency, and overall performance of the Legal Aid Defence Counsels in providing free and effective legal services to under-trial prisoners and other eligible beneficiaries under the legal aid framework.

During the meeting, the Chairman reviewed the progress of the cases being handled by the Legal Aid Defence Counsels and issued necessary directions for further strengthening the legal aid delivery mechanism.

He emphasized the importance of timely legal intervention, taking up the cases of undertrial prisoners and aged persons on priority, focusing on the recording of evidence in the cases already assigned to them, and ensuring proper maintenance of records.
Stressing that access to justice is a constitutional right, the Chairman urged the counsels to discharge their duties with utmost dedication, professionalism, and sensitivity towards the marginalized sections of society. He further directed that the progress of cases which are at the final stages at both the Sessions and Magisterial levels, where evidence has been completed and the files are posted for arguments shall be specifically reviewed monthly.

Directions were also issued to ensure prompt follow-up in cases where bail has been granted but release has not yet taken place.
Meanwhile, the Chairman took review meeting of the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and directed them to intensify their outreach and legal awareness activities, particularly in far-flung and underserved areas.

He highlighted the significant role played by the PLVs as a vital link between legal services institutions and the common public and impressed upon them to proactively identify deserving beneficiaries and facilitate their access to legal aid with sincerity and compassion.

The PLVs were also directed to generate awareness in local areas, legal aid clinics and Legal Literacy Clubs regarding the upcoming National Lok Adalat scheduled to be held on 13th December 2025.

DLSA Srinagar holds Awareness Programme to Promote HIV/AIDS Rights & Prevention

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 02: In continuation of the week-long awareness campaign on the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir AIDS Control Society, today organised a special awareness programme at the District Court Complex, Srinagar.

The programme was organized under the aegis of Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority. The programme was held under the supervision of Haq Nawaz Zargar, Principal District & Sessions Judge (Chairman, DLSA) Srinagar, along with Shazia Tabassum, Member Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority.

The programme was formally inaugurated by the Chairman, DLSA Srinagar.

In his address, the Chairman DLSA emphasized that awareness and prevention remain the most effective tools in the fight against HIV/AIDS and called upon all stakeholders to work collectively towards building an informed, sensitive and stigma-free society.

He highlighted the crucial role of Legal Services Institutions in spreading social and legal awareness at the grassroots level and reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Legal Services Authority towards protecting the rights, dignity and well-being of every individual.

Stressing the importance of early detection, timely treatment and social support, he urged the participants to act as ambassadors of awareness so that the message of prevention, compassion and inclusion reaches every section of society.

Tabassum Qadir Parray, Secretary, DLSA Srinagar, while speaking on the occasion, highlighted the significance of observing World HIV/AIDS Day through sustained awareness efforts.

Imtiyaz Ahmad, Assistant Director, J&K State AIDS Control Society, delivered a comprehensive and informative lecture highlighting the causes, modes of transmission, preventive measures and available treatment for HIV/AIDS. He laid special emphasis on responsible behaviour, routine testing and timely access to medical support.
Tasneem Kausar, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, also addressed the gathering and sensitized the participants about the deep-rooted social stigma attached to HIV/AIDS, urging the audience to adopt an approach based on empathy, understanding and non-discrimination.

During the interactive session, the queries raised by the Legal Aid Defence Counsels were effectively addressed by the resource person, further enhancing the awareness and clarity regarding HIV/AIDS prevention and management.
The programme witnessed the active participation of staff members, Legal Aid Defence Counsels and Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Srinagar.
The awareness programme was conducted under the theme β€œOvercoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response,” reflecting the collective commitment of all stakeholders to strengthen public awareness, promote preventive healthcare and ensure access to justice for all.
