JDU Leaders Meets Union Minister Ramnath Thaukar, Seeks Crop Insurance Implementation and Hailstorm Compensation for Shopian

Janata Dal (United) leaders from Jammu and Kashmir, led by South Kashmir In-charge Mashooq Ahmad Under The Leadership of GM Shaheen, met Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ramnath Thaukar , at Party office Srinagar.

During the meeting Mashooq Ahmad submitted a memorandum demanding urgent implementation of the Crop Insurance Scheme in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly for apple growers and farmers of the Shopian district. They also sought full and timely compensation for orchardists whose produce was severely damaged in the recent hailstorm that hit the area.

The memorandum highlighted that farmers in Shopian suffered massive losses due to unseasonal weather, and the lack of a robust insurance mechanism had left many growers in economic distress.

Union Minister Ramnath Thaukur gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation that the matter would be taken up seriously with concerned departments. He assured full cooperation from the Union Government in addressing the concerns of the farming community.
