PWD (R&B) Zainapora Ensures Smooth Republic Day Celebrations Despite Snowfall, Gusty Winds
Despite heavy snowfall and strong gusty winds, the Public Works Department (PWD) Division Zainapora successfully ensured the smooth, safe, and dignified conduct of Republic Day celebrations through timely planning, professional ex*****on, and dedicated field efforts.
The initially identified venue at Degree College Zainapora had been fully prepared well in advance with all necessary infrastructure and logistical arrangements in place.
However, continuous snowfall coupled with powerful gusty winds caused extensive damage to the arrangements, rendering the venue unsafe for the event.
Taking cognizance of the situation, the PWD Department, in close coordination with the District Administration, took a swift and responsible decision to shift the venue to National Innovation Public School, Zainapora, in the larger public interest.
Despite extreme weather conditions and limited time, all alternative arrangements were executed efficiently.
Temporary structures, seating arrangements, access routes, and essential facilities were reorganized smoothly, reflecting strong coordination and engineering preparedness on part of the department.
PWD staff remained actively deployed on the ground before and throughout the event. The contribution of Er. Aarif Hassan, Junior Engineer, PWD, along with Works Supervisor Aijaz Ahmad Naik, was particularly noteworthy.
Er. Aarif Hassan’s exceptional leadership, sound technical expertise, and tireless on-ground supervision under harsh snowy conditions played a decisive role in the successful ex*****on of the revised arrangements. His dedication, discipline, and professional integrity were widely appreciated by the District Administration.
The successful conduct of the Republic Day celebrations amid such adverse weather conditions stands as a shining example of the resilience, commitment, and engineering excellence of the Public Works Department. (Shopian times)
