Late in the evening at Dooru, a sudden fire broke out in the go-down of Elasko Industries located near A-One Restaurant at Nadura Dooru.

As soon as the incident was reported, the Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and, after great effort, managed to bring the flames under control.

Over the past two months, wild animals in Kashmir Valley, particularly in South Kashmir, have increasingly entered human habitations. This has resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to dozens of others.

On Friday morning, five people were severely injured in separate wild animal attacks in the Dooru area of Anantnag district — four in bear attacks and one in a leopard attack. All the injured have been shifted to GMC Anantnag for further treatment.

Speaking to the media, Wildlife Department officials said they have installed cages at various locations in Dooru, including Manzmoh, to prevent further incidents. They confirmed that an operation to capture the leopard has already been launched.

Awareness/ capacity building workshop on PM-KUSUM- MNRE GoI held at Anantnag

ANANTNAG, SEPTEMBER 24: Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA), Department of Science & Technology, in collaboration with MNRE & GIZ today conducted awareness cm capacity building workshop at Townhall, Anantnag, for sensitization of farmers regarding use of Solar Energy for powering of irrigation pumps under PM-KUSUM scheme

The occasion was attended by ADDC, Anantnag, CEO Municipal Council Anantnag, Dy. CEO, JAKEDA, and officers from JAKEDA, Horticulture and Agriculture departments.

The capacity building of the farmers was carried out by Dr. Jaswant Singh Kalsi (ASCI) and Dr. Ruchi Gupta (GIZ) on behalf of the Ministry of New &Renewable Energy, MNRE.

During the programme, officers and the farmers were apprised about the various benefits/incentives extended by the ‘Ministry of New & Renewable Energy’ MNRE GoI, under PM - KUSUM scheme, which is primarily meant for upliftment of the farmers.

The farmers and officials were apprised about the basics of Solar Water Pumping Systems including USPCs and modalities of Component B of PM KUSUM. It was also informed that under Component – B of PM-KUSUM scheme, a collective subsidy of 80% shall be provided to the farmers who intend to install Solar Water Pumps.

An interactive session was also held with the farmers and officers from other departments, wherein their concern and queries about the schemes were also addressed.

The pamphlets containing all the related information of Solar Pumps under PM-KUSUM scheme, like prices, subsidy amount, beneficiary share, contact numbers of district nodal person etc were distributed among the farmers and the officers for their convenience.

Sewa Parv-2025: Awareness prog. on civic responsibility, NMBA held at GDC Women Anantnag

ANANTNAG, SEPTEMBER 24: As part of the ongoing Sewa Parv-2025 campaign, Government Degree College (Women) Anantnag, in collaboration with District Information Centre Anantnag and the Cultural Wing, DIPR Kashmir, today organized an awareness programme on civic responsibility and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) at GDC (Women) Anantnag.

The program was attended by Principal and faculty, DIO and other officials, artists from Cultural Wing, DIPR Kashmir besides the students of the college.

Principal GDC (Women), while addressing the gathering, appreciated the joint initiative and urged the students to understand and discharge their civic and social responsibilities for overall betterment of the society.

Student speakers highlighted the importance of civil and social responsibilities and the need to promote awareness under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan for eradicating drug menace in the society.

During the program, mosaic cultural items like songs and skits highlighting the harmful effects of substance abuse were presented by the artists of Cultural Wing, DIPR Kashmir.

Students, faculty, and local stakeholders expressed their strong support to promote spirit of service, civic responsibility and the fight against drug menace.

Farooq Ganai joins National Dialogue on Rural Growth

Jammu and Kashmir, Anantnag, 17th September, 2025: Jammu and Kashmir’s renowned Waste Warrior and former Sarpanch Adv Farooq Ganai, popularly known as ‘The KachraMan of Kashmir’ represented Kashmir at a National Dialogue on Rural Development themed “Viksit Gram Se Viksit Bharat” held at the QCI’s head Quarter in New Delhi recently.

The initiative brought grass root level leaders from across India to exchange strategies for strengthening rural Governance and development.
Union Jal Shakti Minister Sh. C R Patil addressed the gathering, highlighting the Jal Shakti Abhiyan and stressing the importance of ‘Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari’. He said the new Initiative like Sarpanch Samvaad were crucial to foster inclusive, sustainable development.
The dialogue was part of broader effort to align village-Level governance with National development goals under the Viksit Bharat Vision and all the participants pledged to work for the development of Nation at village and Panchayat level.
Besides others, Chairman QCI Mr. Jaxay Shah, Union Secretary for JJM, Union Secretary RDD and Governing Body member Mr. Himanshu patel spoke on the occasion.
During the one day conference of more than 75 Sarpanches from all states joined the conclave and Mr Kuldeep ji from Ramban district of Jammu also participated and shared their ideas and work done on various themes and also held an open dialogue over the subject “Viksit Gram Se Viksit Bharat”, Adv Farooq Ganai, who is known for many initiatives to make India clean and Green underlined the importance for empowerment of Panchayat’s to realize the vision of a developed India through sustainable solutions so as to make the village’s vibrant and self reliant villages.
The Platform enabled the participants and policy makers to share best practices and collaborative Ideas that will make our Nation a developed state.
He termed the event as a unique initiative to make India a developed Nation by 2047. “The event highlighted citizen-centric initiatives, quality service delivery, and grassroots leadership. As the sole representative from Kashmir, I brought forth the region's unique perspectives and experiences.

Extending his gratitude to the organizers, Ganai lauds the role of Union Minister for JJM, Union Secretaries of JJM & RDD besides QCI for their commendable efforts in fostering a strong nation through inclusive and quality-driven governance.

Ganai also highlighted the need of beautification of Vatista Spring and Pranigam Laad that feeds sadiwara and other villages of Block Hiller so as to make it a destination for religious tourism in South Kashmir.

The Quality Council of India (QCI) is an autonomous body established in 1997 to promote quality standards across various sectors in India with Key Objectives to Establish and operate national accreditation structures, Promote quality through National Quality Campaign, Improve quality standards in key areas like education, healthcare, environment, governance, and infrastructure, to Enhance competitiveness of Indian enterprises, particularly MSMEs

Commenting over the Infra structure of Quality Council of India and efforts of Sarpanch Samvaad, Ganai sum up the whole event in one word and equate QCI at par with WHO, when it comes to dream of Hon'ble PM's Mission ‘viksit Gram Se Viksit Bharat’.

While sharing the experience with media persons on the side lines of the event, Ganai said, “I was wondered to see the working of Team QCI and request its officials to extend to work on various sectors including education, Waste Management, and implementation of GOIs citizen centric policies at grass root level to make Kashmir schools a drug free destination with clean and green environment in and around schools and government establishments. Though Jammu and Kashmir police has been curbing the Drug menace 24 X 7 but needs more vibrancy and peoples support is must for 100% results in a collaborative manner.

Ganai counted the changes and cycle of development that took place post 2019 and thanked the LG led administration for its efforts to reach out to every nook and corner with the message of Hon’ble PMS mission of Viksit Bharat.

He appreciates all security agencies particularly Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army for maintaining peace in the region which is important for the overall development of any country.
