RDD Constructs Soak & Composite Pits in Qaimoh kulgam; Residents Allege Incomplete Construction, Officer Promises Swift Resolution

Reports| Yasir Yousuf

Kulgam, 23 Aug: As part of the efforts to address wastewater management challenges, the Rural Development Department (RDD) has undertaken the construction of soak and composite pits at both household and community levels in Qaimoh Block. The initiative, carried out under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), aims to alleviate water-related concerns within the region.

However, concerns have been raised by residents of Sheikh Mohalla, Qaimoh, who allege that the work is incomplete, with unfinished patches just meters away. The incomplete work has sparked worries among residents about the effectiveness of the overall project.

Responding to these concerns, Khalil Ahmad Banday, the Block Development Officer of Qaimoh, assured that the unfinished portion of the project will be addressed as a top priority. "We are committed to ensuring that the work is completed satisfactorily, and the concerns of residents are taken into account," Banday stated.

The construction of soak and composite pits represents a significant step towards better wastewater management in the region. The RDD's initiative under the Mahatma Gandhi NREGS not only aims to create employment opportunities but also to enhance the overall quality of life. As the project continues, the hopes for a cleaner and more sustainable environment remain high."
