WATER SUPPLY TO REMAIN DISRUPTED IN PARTS OF KASHMIR

Water Supply to Remain Disrupted in Srinagar for 24 Hours on April 6–7

Srinagar, Apr 02: The Government of Jammu & Kashmir, through the Office of the Executive Engineer, Water Works Division Srinagar, has issued a public notice informing residents about a temporary disruption in water supply across major parts of Srinagar.

According to the notice, the interruption is due to urgent repair works of the Sindh Power Canal scheduled by the authorities on April 6, 2026. As a result, the raw water supply to Water Treatment Plants at Alusteng and Rangil will be affected.

Officials stated that the potable water supply in large parts of the city and adjoining areas is likely to remain disrupted for approximately 24 hours, starting from 6:00 AM on Monday (April 6) to 6:00 AM on Tuesday (April 7). The department has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused.

The areas expected to face water shortage include Zakoora, Gulab Bagh, Alusteng, Habak, Naseem Bagh, Soura, Anchar, Zoonimar, Nowshera, Zadibal, Hawal, Nowhatta, Lal Bazar, Hazratbal, Nigeen, Rainawari (parts), Khanyar, Nawab Bazar, Karan Nagar, Chattabal, Eidgah, Batmaloo (parts), Qamarwari and several adjoining localities.

The authorities have advised the general public to store sufficient water in advance to meet their needs during the disruption period.
For complaints or grievances regarding water scarcity, residents can contact the PHE Provincial Control Room, which remains operational round the clock. The contact numbers provided are 0194-2477207, 0194-2452047 (landline) and 9419413914, 9419413915 (WhatsApp).
The notice has been issued for wide public awareness and necessary preparedness.
