: Let me explain, the topic of fruit drop, a bit more with some practical examples & I’m sure those involved in apple farming may agree, Perhaps...

Fruit Drop Pattern (Varieties & Rootstocks):

Gala & new coloured Red Delicious strains (SS2, Geromine, etc introduced recently) grafted on clonal rootstocks (M9, M7, M26 etc) → show less fruit drop compared to the same varieties on seedling rootstock.

The same varieties on seedling rootstock → show less fruit drop than the so called “Kullu Delicious” ( Remember Kulli Delcious term is a misnomer) strain.

"Kullu Delicious" → has less fruit drop compared to traditional Delicious, Ambri, American Aprouge & many other self pollinated old varieties.

Growth Pattern:

Gala & new Red Delicious strain on M9 rootstock → grow less than when on seedling.

On the same seedling rootstock → they still grow less than “Kullu Delicious” strains.

Kullu Delicious → grows less than traditional Delicious strain , Ambri, and American Aprouge & others.

So, there is a clear pattern here: The plants which grow more vegetatively have more fruit drop probelms.

But remember: the biological world is complex. Many other important contributing factors like soil, nutrient status, location of orchard, orchard management, Hormonal production, etc—combine together to give the final outcome.
