Mashooq Ahmad Wani Incharge South Kashmir, JDU (Janata Dal United), has raised serious concerns regarding alleged fake attendance practices under the MGNREGA scheme in Block Kaprin, District Shopian.

He stated that despite official records showing attendance and ongoing works under MGNREGA, the ground reality presents a completely different picture. According to him, no visible development or MGNREGA-related work is being carried out at the ground level in various areas of Block Kaprin. He alleged that fake attendance is being marked regularly, while certain contractors are reportedly benefiting through fraudulent practices.

Mashooq Ahmad Wani has appealed to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, the Hon’ble Deputy Commissioner Shopian, and other senior administrative officers to immediately order a fair and transparent inquiry into the matter.

He further said that strict action should be taken against anyone found involved in corruption, misuse of public funds, or manipulation of attendance records under the MGNREGA scheme. He emphasized that government welfare schemes are meant for the benefit of the public and poor workers, and any misuse of such schemes must be dealt with seriously.

He urged the concerned authorities to conduct proper field verification and ensure accountability and transparency in the functioning of Block Kaprin.

It is extremely unfortunate and condemnable that an irresponsible individual has dumped human waste into this river. As a result, the river is now emitting a very strong and unbearable foul smell, causing serious inconvenience and potential health risks to the local residents.

We strongly appeal to the Naib Tehsildar Kapran, the Block Development Officer Kapran, and the District Administration Shopian to take immediate action in this matter. The person responsible must be identified as soon as possible, and strict legal action should be taken against them to ensure such incidents do not happen again.

We also request everyone to share this video as much as possible so that this issue reaches the concerned authorities and prompt action is taken.
