SMC conducts Cleanliness Drive in Ward Nos 11 & 17 of Srinagar's Zone North
SRINAGAR, APRIL 21: In a proactive move towards ensuring clean Srinagar City, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation today executed a highly effective cleanliness drive in Zone North Ward No. 11 and 17.
Led by SMC officials, including the Chief Sanitation Officer and Zonal Sanitation Officer, the initiative focused on raising cleanliness standards and promoting hygiene at Sikh Bagh.
The drive concentrated on improving the overall cleanliness and visual aesthetics of the area by implementing efficient waste collection and disposal practices, as well as clearing unwanted vegetation and grass.
By engaging the community in these activities, the SMC aims to foster a sense of civic responsibility among residents and advocate for sustainable and hygienic practices. These endeavors are aimed at cultivating a cleaner and healthier environment for all residents.

SVEEP Cell, Sports Association hosts Rajouri Cup T20 Cricket tournament

RAJOURI, APRIL 21: SVEEP Cell Rajouri, in collaboration with the Sports Association on Sunday organised Rajouri Cup T20 tournament here under the supervision of District Election officer, Om Parkash Bhagat.

Nodal officer SVEEP, Prof Mohammad Iqbal Raina coordinated the sports event themed ‘Chunav ka Parv Desh ka Garv’.

The tournament was inaugurated by the District Election Officer in presence of President Sports Association Rajouri and SVEEP team of Rajouri.

The DEO emphasized the importance of informed and responsible voting. He urged the participants to spread the message of electoral literacy in the society and encourage people to exercise their democratic right.

The tournament featured several teams, providing a platform to young people from across the district to showcase their cricketing skills while also learning about the electoral process.

Dr. Khalid Rayaz, member of SVEEP team said that this tournament not only promoted the sport of cricket, but it also provides an excellent opportunity to engage with the youth and raise awareness about electoral literacy. The initiative was widely appreciated by the participants and local residents, who commended the SVEEP team and organising team of Rajouri Cup T20 tournament for their innovative approach to voter education.

Directs Officers to work in utmost coordination with meticulousness and dedication to ensure smooth, free, fair & transparent elections
SRINAGAR, APRIL 21: Returning Officer (RO) 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency (PC), Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat on Sunday chaired a meeting of all Assistant Returning Officers (AROs), Deputy District Election Officers (Dy. DEOs), Nodal Officers for Postal Ballot, EDC and ETPBS for the upcoming Parliamentary Elections-2024 in the 2-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency comprising 18 Assembly segments of Ganderbal, Srinagar, Budgam (Partly) and Pulwama and Shopian (Partly) Districts.
The meeting was held at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex Srinagar to review the preparations made and arrangements put in place for conduct of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024 in 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency.
At the outset, the RO took a firsthand appraisal from all the AROs, Dy. DEOs and designated Nodal Officers with regard to tasks assigned to them for smooth conduct of Lok Sabha Elections-2024 in the Constituency.
The RO reviewed the preparations being made by all concerned Officers related to key aspects of the Lok Sabha Elections-2024 including AMF/ arrangements at Polling Stations, Transportation of Polling Staff/ Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Postal Ballot and Voting by Polling Staff/ EDC, Postal Voting Centre (PVC), implementation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC), Material Management, Training programmes, Welfare measures, SVEEP and other related activities aimed at ensuring smooth, transparent and peaceful General Elections in 02-Srinagar Constituency.
The RO directed all the Officers to work with due diligence and dedication to ensure smooth, free and fair elections.
He expressed confidence in the collective resolve and capability of all the Officers to fulfil their roles effectively and efficiently, thereby contributing to the successful conduct of the Lok Sabha Elections-2024 in 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency.
He stressed all the Officers to work with a proactive approach and execute allotted tasks on ground and maintain cooperation and coordination with the line departments. He further asked them to go through comprehensive ECI guidelines regarding duties and responsibilities during the election period.
On the occasion, Dr. Bilal informed that as many as 1748091 registered electorates are exercising their franchise in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024 in Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency including 875865 male 872165 female and about 61 Transgenders.
The RO added that as many as 15431 voters of over 85 years, 11679 PWDs, 56915 Migrants and 960 Service Voters are exercising their franchise in the Parliamentary Constituency on May 13, 2024 for which 2503 Electronic voting Machines (EVMs) have been kept in ready state.
The RO also informed that Model Polling Stations have also been setup at various locations across the Parliamentary Constituency including 36 Mobile Polling stations, 20 Pink Polling Stations, 18 PWDs Polling Stations, 18 Green Polling Stations and 18 Youth Polling Stations have been established in the Constituency to facilitate the voters on the Poll day and welcome them to experience a festive-like environment.
He added that dedicated facilities for voters including clean drinking water and ramps etc are also meticulously arranged to enhance the voting experience.
Earlier, the RO was briefed by all the AROs and designated Nodal Officers about the preparations made so far for the conduct of upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024.
The RO also emphasized encouragement of first-time voters so that they exercise their democratic right and make the poll process more participative.
He said 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency has nearly 2.0 lakh first-time voters in the 18-20 age group eligible to vote in the Lok Sabha Elections on May 13, 2024 in the Constituency.
The RO also stressed on taking welfare measures for Polling Staff on the Poll day so that they do not face any inconvenience while discharging their duties.

DEO Srinagar finalizes Plan for transportation of Polling Staff, EVMs & other election related material
SRINAGAR, APRIL 20: In order to ensure hassle free transportation of Polling Staff, EVMs and other election related material to the polling stations for smooth conduct of upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024 in the district, a meeting of concerned Officers was today held under the chairmanship of District Election Officer (DEO) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat at Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, here.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar, Asish Mishra; Assistant Returning Officers, Nodal Officer Transport Management, GM SRTC, Deputy District Election Officer and other Officers attended the meeting.
At the outset, the DEO Srinagar, who is also the Returning Officer(RO) 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency discussed the Transport plan in a comprehensive manner for smooth dispatch of the poll material and polling personnel.
He took Assembly Constituency wise details about the transportation plan from the concerned Officers.
The respective AROs apprised of the requirements of the vehicles and seating capacity of the vehicles so that they reach and depart polling stations in a hassle free manner particularly in the interior areas where polling booths have been set up.
The DEO stressed that all necessary arrangements are put in place for the dispatching of EVMs to designated locations and all arrangements of security and safety of EVMs are made as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The DEO emphasized that polling staff, security personnel and election related material reach at respective polling stations on time without any hindrance.

District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar under the aegis of the Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authority organised a special Lok Adalat on Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) and bank recovery cases on 20th of April 2024. This initiative was in accordance with the plan of action outlined by the National Legal Services Authority for the month of April 2024. The aforementioned Lok Adalat was held at the District Court Complex Mominabad Srinagar, & Addl. Spl. Mobile Magistrate (13th FC) Panthachowk, under the direction & supervision of Mr. Jawad Ahmed, Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Srinagar.
The said special Lok Adalat aimed to provide a platform for speedy and amicable resolution of pending cases related to Motor Accidents Claim Tribunals (MACT) and bank recovery matters, for amicable settlement of cases three benches were constituted. Bench No. 1 comprised of Ms. Jeema Bashir (Presiding Officer, MACT Court) Srinagar and Mr. Surinder Singh (Spl. Judge Anti-Corruption/AddlSpl. Judge Anti-Corruption) Srinagar, Bench No. 2 comprised of Mr. Arvind Sharma (Addl. Distict & Sessions Judge, Bank Cases) Srinagar and Ms. Arti Mohan (Presiding Officer, POCSO Court) Srinagar and Bench No. 3 comprised of Ms. Lubna Sultan, Addl. Spl. Mobile Magistrate (13th FC) Panthachowk and President Bar Association Panthachowk as Bench Member. Cases for settlement included cases of MACT and Bank Recovery Cases.
In Motor Accident related cases, Bench No. 1 headed by Ms. Jeema Bashir ( Presiding Officer, MACT Court) Srinagar and Mr. Surinder Singh (Spl. Judge Anti-Corruption/Addl Spl. Judge Anti-Corruption) Srinagar had taken 22 cases for settlement out of which 02 cases were amicably settled & Rs. 5,63,000 was awarded as settlement amount, Bench No. 2 headed by Mr. Arvind Sharma (Addl. Distinct & Sessions Judge, Bank Cases) Srinagar and Ms. Arti Mohan (Presiding Officer, POCSO Court) Srinagar had taken 37 cases for settlement out of which 37 cases were amicably settled & Rs. 100,30,224/- was awarded as settlement amount.
Overall 69 cases were taken up for settlement out of which 49 cases were amicably settled & Rs. 13,992,451/- was awarded as settlement amount in Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) and bank recovery cases

Srinagar, Apr 20 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba M***i on Saturday said that decisions taken since August 05, 2019 vindicates New Delhi wants to make people of Jammu and Kashmir worst category of slaves.
She was addressing public rally in Pahalgam Anantnag. “We are stuck in uncertain situation. New Delhi is resorting to decisions infavorable to Jammu and Kashmir. There is a need to give collective fight against this assault as New Delhi wants us to make worst category of slaves,” Mehbooba as per Kashmir News Service said.

She said PDP wished to take on the journey of safeguarding collective interests of Jammu & Kashmir together, but unfortunately it didn’t suit others. “Our youth are stuck into worst situation. Employment, land and electricity are being plundered. Our resources are being assaulted. New Delhi wants us to become slaves, and if we do not realize the demand of the hour with sensitivity this will be a historical failure of ours,” she said.

Mehbooba said that all rights snatched by New Delhi will be recovered back with interest but it needs your full support and cooperation. “My voice is worthless till you will not respond and vote in favor of PDP. Let take the voice of PDP to the Parliament so that it will represent your whims and aspirations there with full determination and energy,” Mehbooba continued. (KNS)

CS throws open 2-day multi-speciality medical camp at SDH Jagti
JAGTI (JAMMU), APRIL 20: Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo today threw open a 2-day multi-speciality medical camp here at the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) at Jagti township here.
Those who were present includes Director Health Services, Jammu; Relief Commissioner; ADC, Jammu and other prominent citizens and doctors invited to attend this camp.
On this occasion the Chief Secretary observed that good health is the greatest blessing for any person and to sustain it one has to be careful. He made out that such a kind of medical camps provides opportunity to the commoners to take consultation from best of the medical professionals.
He applauded the Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj (VKS) for organizing this camp going to benefit thousands living in and around Jagti. He also commended the medics and paramedics extending their services to these people on voluntary basis.
Dulloo took this occasion to impress upon the people to come forward for saturating the AB-PMJAY Sehat Sscheme. He made out that those who have not got their Ayushman Bharat Cards yet should be given such documents aggregately. He also gave patient hearing to the people gathered here for screening purpose.
It was given out by the organizers of the camp that for the 2 days starting from today the registered persons will be given free counseling/Consultations by the prominent doctors like that of Neurologist, Sushil Razdan and others.
It was further added that consultation in the medical specialties like Cardiology, Urology, Neurology, Nephrology, Gynecology, ENT, Opthamology, Psychiatry, Orthopedics and others would be provided to people along with a number of diagnostic services and medicines on doctors advice.

JAMMU, APRIL 19: Over 22.60 per cent voter turnout has been recorded till 11.00 AM in the Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency (PC) where Polling is being held today under the First Phase of 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
