A delegation of Jammu Kashmir Pahari Welfare Society, led by its Chairman, Shri Zafar Iqbal Manhas, called on Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today.

The delegation discussed various welfare issues concerning the Pahari community and submitted a memorandum seeking the strengthening of the Pahari Language Section of the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and the reconstitution of the J&K Pahari Advisory Board.

*J&K POLICE IN SHOPIAN SEIZED 07 JCBs AND 04 DUMPERS; FIR REGISTERED*

June 20: Continuing its sustained crackdown on illegal mining, Shopian Police seized Seven JCBs and four Dumpers involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals near the Turkwangam Nallah of the district.

Acting on specific information regarding illegal mining activities at Turkwangam nallah, police party from Police Station Zainapora intercepted and seized Seven JCBs and four Dumpers involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without valid royalty documents. In this regard, FIR No. 84/2026 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been set into motion.

Shopian Police reiterates its firm commitment to protecting the district’s natural resources and ensuring strict legal action against those involved in illegal mining. The general public is urged to cooperate by reporting any such unlawful activities. The identity of informants shall be kept strictly confidential. J&K POLICE IN SHOPIAN CONTINUES ANTI-DRUG AWARENESS CAMPAIGN.

May 06: Continuing its sustained efforts to combat drug abuse and safeguard the future of youth, Shopian Police organized a series of impactful awareness programmes under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.

Awareness sessions were conducted at Government Upper Primary School Nildoora and Syed Sultan Memorial Institute Imamsahib, witnessing active participation from students and teaching staff. The programmes sensitized young minds about the harmful effects of drug abuse, highlighting its physical, psychological, social and legal consequences, while motivating students to adopt a healthy, drug-free lifestyle and act as ambassadors of change within their communities.

Shopian Police reiterated its firm commitment to continue such awareness drives under the ongoing 100 Days Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan, with the objective of building a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
