*SSP Poonch Conducts Thana Diwas at Kirni Village Ahead of Fence*

SSP Poonch Shri Vaibhav Meena, IPS after taking the charge of the district Poonch, today conducted first Thana Diwas meeting at Kirni village located ahead of fence along Line of Control(LC) which was attended by about 120-150 locals from Qasba and Kirni villages. During interaction locals highlighted various day-to-day issues and difficulties being faced by them related to police and civil administration. SSP Poonch gave patient hearing to all issues and assured that genuine problems will be taken up with concerned quarters for redressal. He emphasized that security and welfare of border population is top priority of District Police and appealed public to cooperate with police in maintaining peace, curbing drug menace and sharing information regarding any suspicious activity. He reiterated that such outreach programmes will continue in border and remote areas to strengthen police-public relations. ‎

**Anantang Police Arrested One More Drug Peddler, Charas In Sangam**

**Anantnag, October 15, 2026:**

Continuing its efforts to curb drug trafficking and eradicate the menace of narcotics, Anantnag Police apprehended one more person during routine patrolling in the Sangam area.

The individual, identified as Mohammad Javeed, son of Abdul Saeed, resident of Pauta Kalan, Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, was apprehended by a police party from Police Post Sangam. During checking, approximately 10.52 grams of charas was recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, FIR No. 302/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara, and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances and other possible links in the case.

Anantnag Police reiterates its commitment to taking firm action against drug-related activities and urges the public to cooperate with police in the collective fight against the drug menace.

*Police In Kulgam Conducts Anti-Fidayeen Mock Drill at Harnag Railway Station*

*October 14:* ```Police in Kulgam Police, in coordination with Army (01 RR), GRP, RPF and CRPF (40, 18 and 90 Bns), conducted an anti-fidayeen mock drill at Harnag Railway Station to assess operational preparedness and inter-agency coordination.

During the exercise, road cut-offs were established at designated locations, and participating agencies carried out coordinated response measures to neutralize the simulated threat and ensure the safe evacuation of passengers and civilians.

The exercise aimed to enhance operational readiness, improve response time and strengthen coordination among security agencies to ensure an effective response to any eventuality.```

*Anantnag Police Launches District-Wide Night Crackdown; 71 Suspicious Persons Detained, 61 Motorcycles and 20 Other Vehicles Seized*

Anantnag, October 14, 2026:
In a decisive district-wide enforcement drive, Anantnag Police intensified night-time checking operations across the district, targeting illegal mining, vehicles operating without valid registration plates and documents, suspicious movements and other unlawful activities.

During the coordinated operation, police seized 06 tractors, 02 tippers and 01 dumper in connection with action against illegal mining. A total of 71 suspicious individuals were detained for verification, while 61 motorcycles found plying without valid documents were seized or challaned as per law. Additionally, 11 vehicles with adverse antecedents were seized for further verification and necessary legal action. In a separate action, one forest smuggler was arrested along with illegal timber.

The extensive checking drive reflects Anantnag Police’s sustained efforts to curb unlawful activities, enforce vehicle regulations, strengthen surveillance and maintain law and order across the district.

Handover Waqf to Elected Government; Let MMU, Headed by Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Vet Sermons : MehboobaMufti on Waqf controversy.

We strongly oppose the Waqf Board’s move to impose uniform sermons in mosques across Jammu and Kashmir. It is an unacceptable attempt to control religious institutions and clerics and an interference in matters of faith.

We opposed the Waqf Amendment Bill for the same reason. Faith cannot be dictated, nor can religious institutions be subjected to arbitrary control.

These orders raise serious concerns about religious freedom and the autonomy of Muslim institutions, particularly at a time when Muslims are being excluded from decisions concerning their own Waqf properties and mosques are facing attacks.

If the government insists on proceeding, it must first transfer the administration of Waqf properties in J&K to the elected government and allow the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), headed by the Mirwaiz of Kashmir, to vet sermons.

Religious freedom is a constitutional right, not a privilege to be granted or withdrawn by those in power.

**Anantnag Police Intensifies Anti-Narcotics Drive; Three Drug Peddlers Apprehended, Charas Recovered in Separate Operations**

Anantnag, October 13, 2026:
Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and narcotics abuse, Anantnag Police apprehended three drug peddlers in separate naka checking operations at Khanabal, Mattan and Nowgam, leading to the recovery of charas.

In the first operation, a police party from Police Post Khanabal established a naka at Harnag near Ahli-Hadees Jamia Masjid. During checking, a suspicious person, identified as Aarif Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Ayoub Bhat, resident of Bunpora Khanabal, was apprehended. During his personal search, 120 grams of charas was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 357/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Anantnag, and investigation has been set into motion.

In another operation, a police party from Police Station Mattan apprehended Mudasir Lateef Dar, son of Mohammad Lateef Dar, resident of Davoodpora Brah, during naka checking near Kehribal Crossing. A charas weighing approximately 40.2 grams was recovered during his personal search. Accordingly, an FIR under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act has been registered, and further legal proceedings have been initiated.

Meanwhile, during naka checking at Nowgam, a police party from Police Station Aishmuqam intercepted an auto-rickshaw bearing registration number JK03R/6200, travelling from Salia towards Manzigam. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 23 grams of charas concealed beneath the handbrake. The driver was identified as Faisal Gulzar, son of Gulzar Ahmad Nanwai, resident of Bangoo, Tangmarg. In this connection, FIR No. 87/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Aishmuqam, and further investigation is underway.

*Anantnag Police Conducts Monday Parade Across District; SSP Anantnag Reviews Discipline and Operational Preparedness at DPL*

Reaffirming its commitment to discipline, physical fitness and operational preparedness, Anantnag Police conducted the routine Monday Parade across all police establishments of the district.

The main parade was held at District Police Lines (DPL) Anantnag, where SSP Anantnag Shri Amod Ashok Nagpure-IPS, reviewed the parade proceedings. The ceremonial parade showcased the discipline, coordination and professional commitment of police personnel.
