FIR Registered Against Ex-JMC Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta, 9 Others in Cow Theft & ₹97 Lakh Misappropriation Case

Jammu, Oct 01 (KNC): In a major development, Police Station Bakshi Nagar has registered an FIR against former Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta, along with nine others, over alleged theft of 13 cows and 24 calves and misappropriation of ₹97 lakh belonging to Hare Krishna Gaushala, located near Eden Garden, Shakti Nagar.

As per details available with news agency Kashmir News Corner --- KNC, The FIR (No. 0125/2025) under Sections 316, 318 (3), and 325 BNS 2023 was lodged on the directions of Judicial Magistrate First Class (Munsiff) Jammu, Rekha Sharma, following a complaint filed by Rohit Bali, General Secretary of the Hare Krishna Gaushala Charitable Trust.

The accused also include Narender Verma alias Nitai Dass, Manju Verma, Vijay Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Deepak Singh Rana, Varinder Dogra, Deepak Singla, Rajeev Sambyal, and Rajinder Abrol.

According to the complaint, Bali had earlier purchased 25 cows and 24 calves for the Gaushala. However, before the administration took over its management, reports surfaced about missing cattle and illegal financial activities allegedly involving the former Mayor and others, details stated.

Subsequent inquiries by Tehsildar Jammu Khas, Naib-Tehsildar, and Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Jammu confirmed embezzlement and disappearance of 37 bovines.

When police initially failed to register the FIR, the complainant moved court, leading to judicial intervention and eventual compliance by SHO Bakshi Nagar, who informed the court on 29.09.2025 that the FIR had been registered and investigation assigned to ASI Ashok Kumar. 3 injured in scuffle between vendors, fruit buyer in Sgr

Srinagar, Sep 30 (KNO): At least three persons were injured in an alleged scuffle between street vendors and fruit buyers in Goni Khan area of Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Tuesday evening, officials said.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that three men were injured after a physical altercation broke out between the vendor and them in Goni Khan, Lal Chowk, near Naaz Cinema, Srinagar.

He said the trio has been shifted to the hospital and their condition is said to be stable.

One of them sustained injuries to his eyebrow and head after being attacked with a sharp-edged object.

He identified them as Owais Mukhtar Mir (20), son of Mukhtar Ahmad, a resident of Bemina Hamdaniya Colony and the other two as Fariq Ahmad (17), son of Riyaz Ahmad Reshi and Riyaz Ahmad Reshi (45), son of Abdul Gani Reshi—both residents of Mehjoor Nagar, Srinagar.

* Train Operations in Jammu Division After Rains

Jammu, cni. Due to continuous rains and waterlogging in the Jammu Division of Northern Railway over the past few days, many trains had to be cancelled and some had to be terminated before their destination. However, Divisional Railway Manager Jammu, Mr. Vivek Kumar, and other officials are periodically reviewing various sections and ensuring train safety. In this regard, some trains are being re-operated in Jammu Division in fourth phase.
* Details of which are as follows:

1. Train No. 12470 (Jammu Tawi - Kanpur) This train will be running from 02.10.2025.

2. Train No. 14606 (Jammu Tawi - Yoga Nagari Rishikesh) This train is operational from 05.10.2025.
3. Train No. 14692 (Jammu Tawi - Barauni) This train is operational from 03.10.25.
4. Train No. 22318 (Jammu - Sealdah) This train is operational from 08.10.2025.
5. Train No. 15654 (Jammu Tawi - Guwahati) This train is operational from 03.10.2025.
6. Train No. 12588 (Jammu Tawi - Gorakhpur) This train is operational from 04.10.2025.
7. Train No. 15098 (Jammu Tawi-Bhagalpur): This train is operational from 7.10.2025.

8. Train No. 15652 (Jammu Tawi-Guwahati): This train is operational from 8.10.2025.

Regarding the operation of these trains, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Mr. Uchit Singhal said, "These trains are being reinstated after ensuring the safety and continuity of the railway track. These trains are being operated in the fourth phase, following the previous three phases of resumption of trains. Train operations in the division are gradually being normalized as soon as the technical work on the railway track and railway bridges is completed. To avoid any inconvenience, passengers are advised to check the train schedules on the Northern Railway website or the relevant helpline numbers." Cni

(KF): Four Gamblers Arrested in Anantnag have been identified as: 1- Manzoor Ahmad Khan, son of Habib Ullah Khan, resident of Mehman Mohallah.
2. Aqib Amin Tramboo, son of Mohammad Amin Tramboo, resident of Nathpora Khanabal.
3. Tawqeer Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Abdullah Dar, resident of Mirdantar Anantnag.
4. Abdul Shakoor Wani, son of Bashir Ahmad Wani, resident of Nandpora Khanabal.

Police said that during the raid, cash amounting to ₹64,900 along with a set of playing cards was recovered from the spot.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 186/2025 U/S Gambling Act at the concerned police station.

NC District Vice President Anantnag, Syed Sabha Shafi, Undergoes Open Heart Surgery in Srinagar
Syed Sabha Shafi, the National Conference (NC) District Vice President for Anantnag, underwent a successful open heart surgery at Paras Hospital in Srinagar.
The senior political leader was admitted to the hospital on 27/0925 where the complex cardiac procedure was performed by a team of specialist surgeons.
Following the operation, several prominent political figures visited the hospital to inquire about the health and well-being of Mr. Syed sabha Shafi and wish him a speedy recovery.
