*PDD Worker Electrocuted to Death in Budgam*

Srinagar, Dec 8 (KNC): A Power Development Department (PDD) employee who suffered severe electrocution in Budgam on Saturday has succumbed to his injuries at SMHS Hospital Srinagar on Monday morning, officials said.

An official told news agency Kashmir News Corner --- KNC, The victim, identified as Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Rather (55), son of Ghulam Hassan, a resident of Mahawara Budgam, was working as a PDL (Permanent Daily Labourer) with the department.

The incident occurred at Lakhripora, Budgam, where the worker was repairing an electric wire when he came in direct contact with a live current.

He was initially rushed to District Hospital Budgam in critical condition and subsequently referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment. However, doctors said that he succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning.

Shopian Police Recovered 14.380Kgs Charas From Residential House in Safanagri Zainapora

SHOPIAN, December 07: In its continued crackdown against drug menace, Shopian Police recovered 14.380Kgs of Charas from a residential house in safanagri Zainapora.

Acting on specific information, Police Station Zainapora registered a case under FIR No. 122/2025 of NDPS Act and obtained a search warrant from the competent authority. A team from Police Post Wachi accompanied by the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, raided the house of Tariq Ahmad Bhat resident of Safanagri Zainapora. During the search, 14.380Kgs of Charas-like substance was seized. The accused has been arrested and further investigation initiated.

*Forest Guard Dies While Dousing Off Fire In Anantnag

Srinagar, December 7 A forest guard lost his life while trying to douse off raging fire in Khadar Kapran area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday.

Officials told that a forest guard lost life when he accidentally slipped down the high altitude while trying to douse off fire in Khadar Kapran forests. He was shifted to nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Gull Mohammad Shah resident of Changoo. His body was shifted to District Hospital Anantnag for medico-legal formalities.

*MeT Predicts Light Snowfall in Kashmir*

Srinagar, Dec 7: The Meteorological Department on Sunday said that the weather across Kashmir is expected to remain generally cloudy but dry over December 6 and 7, with a brief spell of light snowfall likely at isolated places in the higher reaches on Monday.
According to the MeT office, higher reaches of north and central Kashmir may witness light snowfall on December 8, while the plains are likely to remain dry during this period. Officials said there is no forecast of widespread precipitation, and weather conditions are expected to remain largely stable.
The MeT department advised people, particularly those travelling to higher altitude areas, to remain cautious in view of the expected snowfall, even though it is likely to be brief and light in nature.

Zero Tolerance for Stunt Biking: Shopian Police Registers FIR, Warns Public Against Dangerous Riding.

December 07: Shopian Police has taken strict cognizance of a stunt biking incident reported from Pehlipoora area. In this regard, FIR No. 263/2025 has been registered under Sections 281, 125 of BNS and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The involved motorcycle has been seized and further investigation is underway.

The accused rider, Sahil Farooq Sheikh S/o Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Pehlipoora, Shopian, was found indulging in dangerous stunt biking on a public road, thereby endangering his own life as well as the safety of other road users. Such activities are unlawful and will be dealt with strictly under the relevant provisions of law.

Shopian Police urges all citizens, especially the youth, to refrain from stunt biking, rash driving, and all forms of traffic violations. Public roads are meant for safe commuting, not stunts, and such behaviour poses a serious risk to community safety. Parents are requested to guide and counsel their children regarding responsible driving.

Shopian Police remains committed to ensuring safe roads and disciplined traffic movement across the district. Strict action shall continue against all violators.
