Chief Minister Omar Abdullah pays tributes to army soldiers

KULGAM, AUGUST 9: Chief Minister today laid a wreath and paid rich tribute to the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty at Kulgam.

Two Soldiers Killed, Two Injured as Akhal Forest Encounter Enters Ninth Day

Kulgam, Aug 9 : Two Army personnel were killed and two others injured as the fierce exchange of fire between militants and security forces continued through the night in the Akhal forest area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, where the gunfight entered its ninth day on Saturday.

Army officials said Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh lost their lives in the line of duty, while two other soldiers sustained injuries during the ongoing operation. The injured personnel have been evacuated for treatment.

Chinar Corps paid tributes to the slain soldiers, describing their courage and dedication as an inspiration for generations. “Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of the Bravehearts… Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us,” the statement read, extending deepest condolences to the bereaved families.

Security forces continue to maintain a tight cordon in the forest area as the operation remains underway, army said. [KNT]

DC visits SDH Kupwara to take stock of healthcare services

KUPWARA, AUGUST 08: On his maiden field visit, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse visited Sub District Hospital Kupwara to inspect the functioning of the hospital today evening.

During the visit, DC inspected different sections of the hospital including OPD, IPD, Emergency, Gynea, Laboratory, X-Ray etc. He interacted with the doctors and paramedical staff and enquired about the status of health care and treatment facilities.

He also interacted with the patients and enquired about the quality of services provided by the hospital.

DC was accompanied by ACR Kupwara, Chief Medical Officer besides others during the visit.

Naib Tehsildar Tral Suspended, Inquiry Ordered into Conduct: DC Pulwama

ADC Awantipora to lead probe; Tehsildar Tral appointed as presenting officer

Pulwama, Aug 8 : The Deputy Commissioner Pulwama has placed Naib Tehsildar Tral, under suspension with immediate effect, pending an inquiry into his conduct.

According to an official order accessed by news agency JKNS, Pending inquiry into his conduct, Mr. Peer Altaf Ahmad, Naib Tehsildar Tral is placed under suspension with immediate effect and is attached with the office of Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora shall inquire into the matter and submit detalled report alongwith recommendations. Tehsildar Tral shall be presenting officer and shall assist Addl. Deputy Commissioner Awantipora in conducting the Inquiry, reads the order.
