Strict action against anyone disturbing peace on Aug 5 in Kashmir: Officials

Srinagar, Aug 4: Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday warned of stringent action against anyone found involved in disturbing public peace on August 5, as political parties announced separate pro-tests to mark the seventh anniversary of the revocation of Article 370.

"No demonstration, rally, or gathering will be allowed without prior permission. Anyone participating in, organising, or inciting unauthorised protests will face legal consequences," a senior civil admin official said.

Official sources said security arrangements have been finalised across the valley, with additional paramilitary forces deployed and restrictions imposed in sensitive areas. Identified trouble-makers are being kept under watch, they added.

"Any act of violence, stone-pelting, or unlawful assembly will invite immediate action. There will be zero tolerance towards any attempt to disrupt peace," the officer said.

Authorities have appealed to citizens to maintain peace and cooperate with the administration.
