Sundargarh: A dedicated Cyber Crime and Economic Offences (EO & Cyber) Police Station was virtually inaugurated in Sundargarh to strengthen action against rising cybercrime and financial fraud cases in the region.
The police station was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik through a virtual ceremony. The initiative aims to enhance the state's capacity to investigate cyber offences, online fraud, and economic crimes more efficiently.
Senior police officials including DIG Western Range Rourkela and SP Sundargarh were present during the inauguration ceremony.
The new police station will serve as a specialized unit equipped to handle cases related to cyber fraud, digital financial crimes, and other economic offences. Officials said the facility will help improve coordination, investigation speed, and technical capabilities of law enforcement agencies in tackling cyber-related crimes.
Authorities emphasized that the establishment of the dedicated cyber police station reflects the government's commitment to ensuring digital safety and protecting citizens from online fraud and economic offences.
The station will also focus on public awareness regarding cyber safety and encourage citizens to report cyber crimes promptly.
