Sundargarh, April 22, 2026:
In response to severe heatwave conditions sweeping across the region, the District Administration of Sundargarh has ordered the temporary closure of all schools from April 23 to April 27, 2026.
According to an official order issued by the District Education Office, the decision has been taken to ensure the safety and well-being of students amid rising temperatures. The directive applies to all Government, Government-aided, SSD, OAVs, and private schools running classes from I to XII across the district.
The order, issued under the direction of the Collector, Sundargarh, emphasizes precautionary measures as temperatures continue to soar, posing health risks, particularly to children.
Officials have also circulated the notice to Block Education Officers, school principals, and headmasters to ensure immediate compliance. Further updates regarding reopening will be issued based on weather conditions.

Parents and guardians are advised to keep children indoors during peak heat hours and ensure proper hydration.
