TCS Responds to Viral Photo of Employee Sleeping Outside Pune Office Over Unpaid Salary

Pune, Maharashtra — A disturbing image showing Sourabh More, a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee, sleeping on the footpath outside the company’s Pune office sparked widespread outrage on social media. The image, shared with a handwritten note, claimed that he had not been paid despite being told his salary would be credited earlier. More alleged that his employee ID remained inactive on TCS systems despite reporting to the Sahyadri Park office on July 29, forcing him into extreme hardship.

In his letter, More wrote, “I have informed HR I don’t have money and will be forced to sleep and live outside TCS on footpath,” expressing the desperation of his situation.

TCS responded swiftly, clarifying that the payroll was suspended due to unauthorised absence, as per company policy. The firm stated that More has since returned to duty and accommodations have been arranged for him. TCS emphasized it is providing support and working to resolve the situation constructively.

The incident has reignited discussion about HR practices in large IT firms and employee welfare. The Forum for IT Employees (FITE) expressed solidarity with More, applauding his courage and encouraging affected employees to file formal legal complaints under labor law.

⚠️ Uttarakhand Cloudburst Triggers Flash Floods, Casualties Reported

Dehradun, Uttarakhand – August 5, 2025:
A sudden cloudburst in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand late Monday night triggered massive flash floods and landslides, resulting in widespread destruction and loss of lives. Initial reports confirm at least 6 people dead and several others missing, with rescue teams racing against time to locate survivors.

The incident occurred around 2:30 AM in a remote area near Joshimath, washing away roads, houses, and livestock. Heavy rainfall pounded the region, causing rivers and streams to swell rapidly, submerging nearby villages.

Local authorities, SDRF, and NDRF teams have been deployed for rescue operations. Helicopters have been pressed into service to airlift stranded villagers. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of more heavy rains in the coming days and urged people in hill areas to remain alert.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed condolences to the affected families and announced immediate compensation and relief measures. “We are monitoring the situation closely. Saving lives is our top priority,” he stated.

The state, already vulnerable to extreme weather due to its mountainous terrain, has witnessed several such incidents in recent years, raising concerns over climate change and deforestation in the region.

India has strongly rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s renewed threat to impose steep tariffs—up to 25%—on Indian goods over its purchase of Russian oil. Trump accused India of profiting by buying discounted Russian crude and reselling it on international markets.

In response, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) called the targeting of India "unjustified and unreasonable." Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that India procured oil to ensure affordable fuel for its citizens—especially after traditional suppliers redirected supplies to Europe. He also highlighted the hypocrisy of Western critics, pointing out that both the U.S. and EU continue significant trade with Russia in energy and industrial goods .

Despite the escalating rhetoric, India has opted not to retaliate with its own tariffs. Instead, it has urged exporters to develop and promote homegrown brands and strengthen the “Make in India” initiative to offset expected export losses. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal reaffirmed India’s position: it will not be coerced into a disadvantageous trade deal and stands firm in defending its sovereignty.

A big win for India's security forces! 💪🇮🇳 Three heavily armed Pakistani terrorists were killed in Operation Mahadev near Harwan in Srinagar. The encounter, led by the 24 Rashtriya Rifles and 4 Para unit, stopped a possible major terror attack. One terrorist was linked to the Sonamarg Tunnel attack in 2023. Another may be the mastermind behind the Pahalgam attack. Weapons recovered include AK rifles and an M4 carbine. These terrorists were part of Lashkar-e-Taiba and came from Pakistan. A proud moment for our brave soldiers and a reminder of their constant efforts to keep the nation safe.

BJP MP Ravi Kishan has sparked national discussion by urging Parliament to standardize the pricing of everyday food items like samosas across all types of eateries — from street stalls to five-star hotels. Speaking during Zero Hour, he stressed the need for a law that ensures consistency in food pricing, portion sizes, and transparency in ingredients used. He also pushed for menus to mention the quantity served and the kind of oil or ghee used. While food safety is handled by FSSAI, Kishan highlighted the need for pricing clarity to protect consumer rights and reduce confusion and food wastage.

India’s UPI Surpasses Visa To Become World’s No. 1 Payment System
In just 9 years, India’s UPI has pulled off the unthinkable — overtaking Visa in daily transactions to become the world’s top real-time payment platform. With over 640 million transactions processed every single day, UPI has revolutionized the way money moves, from street vendors to major corporations. What makes this leap extraordinary is that Visa took decades to build its global footprint, while UPI reached the top in less than a decade. India hasn’t just caught up with the world — it has redefined the future of digital payments.
