The 2025 J.D. Power Airport Satisfaction Study has ranked Philadelphia International Airport among the worst large airports in North America, achieving a score of 570 out of 1,000 and positioning it at the bottom of the 'large airports' category, which encompasses airports handling 10 million to 32.9 million passengers annually. Despite record-breaking passenger volumes at numerous airports this year, Philadelphia International has been identified as requiring substantial enhancements, particularly regarding outdated terminal design and congestion issues. The study assesses various aspects, including terminal facilities, staff, ease of travel, food and retail options, and departure and arrival experiences.

That’s a big change for air travellers ✈️

Here’s a quick summary of what this means at Dublin Airport (effective from midnight tonight):

✅ Liquids & gels: Up to 2 litres total allowed in hand luggage (instead of the old 100ml rule).
✅ No clear plastic bags needed – you can keep items in their normal containers.
✅ Electronics & liquids stay in bags during screening.
✅ Faster security checks thanks to new C3 CT-style scanners (similar to hospital imaging).
✅ Remaining rules:
• Belts, jackets, hoodies, and high-ankle shoes must still be removed.
• Pockets must be emptied of phones, wallets, keys, etc.

📍 Dublin is now among the first European airports to fully introduce this ahead of the EU’s December 2025 deadline.
📍 Cork Airport will follow soon with the same upgrades.
