MESSAGE- RAJ BHAVAN
Message of the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur on the joyous occasion of Teachers’ Day

On the joyous occasion of Teachers’ Day, celebrated as the birth anniversary of the revered educator, philosopher, and scholar, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, I extend my warm greetings to all, especially to the teaching fraternity.

It also reminds us of our common goal of Viksit Bharat @ 2047. The students of today are the torchbearers of this vision, guided with dedication and care by teachers, who are truly the guardian angels in shaping the destiny of our nation.

On this day of great significance, I urge my fellow citizens especially teachers to follow the footsteps and philosophy of Dr. Radhakrishnan and to contribute wholeheartedly towards the progress and development of our nation.

On this day, let us acknowledge and celebrate the invaluable contributions of teachers across generations.
Happy Teachers’ Day!

Press Release from Education Department

The State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2025 was successfully conducted on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at two centers:

PM Shri Girls SSS School in Namchi and PM Shri Sir T.N. SSS School in Gangtok. The examination saw a high attendance rate, reflecting strong candidate interest in the teaching profession.

Out of 2,466 registered candidates across all categories, 2,380 were present, resulting in an overall attendance rate of approximately 96.51%. The overall absent percentage was 3.49%. The smooth and fair conduct of the examination was ensured through the collaborative efforts of the supervisory teams, which included departmental observers and officials from other government departments.

A special note of gratitude is extended to the CEO of Namchi, the principals of both PM Shri Girls SSS School and PM Shri Sir T.N. SSS School, and the respective examination committees for their unwavering support. The successful introduction of Namchi as a new center this year would not have been possible without their dedicated efforts.

An innovative new system has been introduced this year to enhance transparency and efficiency. The answer key will be published soon, and candidates will have a three-day window to challenge it by scanning a unique QR code provided in their question paper. This forward-thinking approach is expected to streamline the post-examination process.

PREM SINGH TAMANG RANKED BEST-PERFORMING CM AMONG SMALL STATES

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has been ranked as the best-performing Chief Minister among small states in the latest India Today Mood of the Nation (MOTN) poll, conducted in August 2025. The survey covered states with less than 10 Lok Sabha seats and placed Tamang ahead of his counterparts from Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya, and Mizoram.

According to the poll, 53.9 per cent of respondents in Sikkim expressed satisfaction with Tamang’s leadership. Although this marks a decline from 62 per cent in February 2025, he continues to lead by a wide margin. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu secured the second position with 41.6 per cent, followed by Tripura’s Dr. Manik Saha with 40.4 per cent. Meghalaya’s Conrad Sangma received 38.6 per cent support, while Mizoram’s Lalduhoma stood at 38.4 per cent.

Reacting to the recognition, Tamang said the honour was not just a personal milestone but proof of the people’s trust and support. He expressed gratitude to the people of Sikkim, calling them the “true architects” of progress, and dedicated the achievement to their collective strength and determination. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Governor Om Prakash Mathur, and other leaders for their support.

The Mood of the Nation poll, started in 2001, is conducted twice a year around Republic Day and Independence Day.
