The Central Bureau of Investigation ( # ) has taken into custody Maisnam Riten Kumar Singh, Executive Director and Regional Officer of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited ( ) in Guwahati, for allegedly accepting a โน10 lakh bribe from a private company. The bribe was reportedly demanded in exchange for granting a favorable extension of time and completion certificate for a highway project. Details of the Arrest:
- Involved: Four-laning of National Highway-37 between Demow and End of Moran Bypass in Assam
- : Maisnam Riten Kumar Singh, Executive Director and Regional Officer of NHIDCL, Guwahati
- -accused: Binod Kumar Jain, representative of Kolkata-based company Mohan Lal Jain Assets Seized
- : โน2.62 crore seized from Singh's premises
- : 9 landed properties and 20 apartments owned by Singh and his family members across India
- : Documents related to high-end vehicles registered in Singh's name Investigation and Charges
- Registered: CBI registered a case against Singh, Jain, and other representatives of the Kolkata-based firm under the Prevention of Corruption Act
- Ongoing: CBI is verifying the immovable and movable properties of the accused public servant and investigating the source of Singh's wealth
- Action: Both Singh and Jain will be produced before the Special Judge for CBI cases in Guwahati.
