The Central Bureau of Investigation ( # ) has taken into custody Maisnam Riten Kumar Singh, Executive Director and Regional Officer of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited ( ) in Guwahati, for allegedly accepting a ₹10 lakh bribe from a private company. The bribe was reportedly demanded in exchange for granting a favorable extension of time and completion certificate for a highway project. Details of the Arrest:
- Involved: Four-laning of National Highway-37 between Demow and End of Moran Bypass in Assam
- : Maisnam Riten Kumar Singh, Executive Director and Regional Officer of NHIDCL, Guwahati
- -accused: Binod Kumar Jain, representative of Kolkata-based company Mohan Lal Jain Assets Seized
- : ₹2.62 crore seized from Singh's premises
- : 9 landed properties and 20 apartments owned by Singh and his family members across India
- : Documents related to high-end vehicles registered in Singh's name Investigation and Charges
- Registered: CBI registered a case against Singh, Jain, and other representatives of the Kolkata-based firm under the Prevention of Corruption Act
- Ongoing: CBI is verifying the immovable and movable properties of the accused public servant and investigating the source of Singh's wealth
- Action: Both Singh and Jain will be produced before the Special Judge for CBI cases in Guwahati.

ZUF Condemns NSCN-IM for Atrocities, Demands Justice and Transparency

Dilung, July 30, 2025: The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has issued a strong statement denouncing the NSCN-IM for a series of alleged atrocities committed against the Zeliangrong community. The press release accuses the NSCN-IM of carrying out acts of torture, extrajudicial killings, and enforced disappearances over the years.

The ZUF cited multiple historical instances of brutality targeting both Zeliangrong fighters and civilians, including the high-profile killing of Athuan Abonmai and other innocent lives lost. The group also expressed serious concern over the unresolved disappearance of Capt. Jiandai Kamei, criticizing the absence of credible updates or actions regarding the case.

The NSCN-IM was further accused of enforcing authoritarian practices and engaging in discriminatory behavior, which the ZUF claims has caused deep divisions and alienation within the Zeliangrong community.

Emphasizing the need for justice, truth, and public awareness, the ZUF called on the people to reject misinformation and stand united. It reiterated its dedication to peace and the defense of the rights, dignity, and identity of the Zeliangrong people while advocating for fair and respectful engagement with all organizations.

According to reports, a clash between Kuki militants UTV and CKMA occurred in Tamenglong at approximately 6 AM, resulting in five fatalities, as confirmed by the source. The deceased individuals are: 1. Alex, 2. Seiboi, 3. Pongba, 4. Rambo, and 5. Ringo.
