the Assam Private Coaching Institutes Control and Students’ Mental Health Safeguard rules would make registration mandatory for coaching centres with more than 50 students. The framework will cover their functioning, infrastructure and student-welfare measures.

Institutes must provide sensitive, non-discriminatory environments for SC, ST, OBC and EWS students, those with disabilities, LGBTQ+ students, and those affected by trauma, bereavement or previous su***de attempts.

A***n Goswami, the prime accused in the d*ath of Anwesha Saikia at a dr*g p*rty in Jorhat, has been arrested from Rongajan in Golaghat.

The d3ath of 18-year-old Anwesha Saikia in Jorhat has sparked serious questions after she was found unconscious following a gathering at Gauri Enclave. She was taken to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH), where doctors declared her dead.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma defended the proposed changes to Kaziranga’s Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ), saying wildlife protection must be balanced with the livelihoods of communities living around the national park.

He said residents of Bokakhat and Kaliabor have raised concerns over restrictions on traditional activities, including fishing, and stressed that local people have played an important role in protecting Kaziranga.

Sarma also warned that a 10-km ESZ could impact the Numaligarh Refinery, questioning the consequences for Assam. He noted that the Supreme Court allows an ESZ of 1–3 km depending on the circumstances, and called for a balance between conservation and local economic interests.

The Supreme Court has deferred the bail plea of Shyamkanu Mahanta, a key accused in the case related to the death of Assamese music legend Zubeen Garg.
