On 19th July, the enthusiastic BAMMC fam from K.V. Pendharkar College, Dombivli East, walked into Cinematech Film Institute, Thane and walked out seeing ads and films through a whole new lens.

DECODE THE FRAME - our free pop-up workshop, is all about training young minds to see more, think deeper, and create better. Students didn’t just watch films, they cracked hidden metaphors, read visual signs like pros, and dived into the secret language of short films & TVCs.

Guiding them was , our founder and mentor, an ad filmmaker, and a man obsessed with teaching the next gen 'how to read between the frames'.

They explored our studio behind the scenes, asked wild questions, got career tips, and went home with a certificate.

On this day, May 9, 1958, the world witnessed the premiere of Vertigo, a psychological thriller directed and produced by none other than Sir Alfred Hitchcock.

The story behind the film?
In 1954, Hitchcock came across a haunting French novel D’entre les morts (From Among the Dead) by Pierre Boileau and Thomas Narcejac. Enchanted by its depth, he collaborated with screenwriters Alec Coppel and Samuel Taylor to shape it into a screenplay.

With Paramount Pictures on board, Hitchcock began shooting in late 1957, and on this very day in 1958, Vertigo hit the big screen at San Francisco’s Stage Door Theater (today known as August Hall Nightclub).

Though audiences initially found it “too long,” critics couldn’t ignore Hitchcock’s masterful direction and the standout performances by James Stewart, Kim Novak, Tom Helmore, and Barbara Bel Geddes.

Budget: $2.5 million
Box Office: $7.5 million
Verdict: Not a hit then, but a classic today!
