A 25-year-old gym trainer, identified as Nandan, allegedly died after a violent altercation at a client’s apartment in Bengaluru’s Kempapura area on Sunday morning.

According to police, Nandan and three of his gym colleagues had attended their gym’s first anniversary celebration on Saturday evening. They later went to the Kempapura apartment of their client, Anush, to spend the night.

Between around 7 am and 7:30 am on Sunday, an argument reportedly broke out over a personal issue and escalated into a physical confrontation. Nandan sustained serious injuries and was later taken to a private hospital in Hebbal, where he died.

Police have taken four people into custody in connection with the case — Nandan’s colleagues Vishwanatha, Sharath and Nishanth, along with client Anush. A murder case has been registered at Amruthahalli police station.

Police are examining CCTV footage and other technical evidence to determine exactly what happened inside the apartment and establish the motive and individual roles.

Investigators are also awaiting post-mortem findings as the probe continues.

Authorities in Gujarat’s Kutch district have taken a married couple into custody following serious allegations of repeated se_ual assault, physical torture, and unlawful confinement leveled by their 14-year-old daughter.

According to police officials from the Anjar division, the abuse reportedly commenced after the mother discovered the minor speaking on a phone call with a male friend from Agra. The father allegedly destroyed the device, confined the teenager to the residence, withheld food, and subjected her to multiple instances of aggravated sexual assault.

The survivor further stated that her mother was actively present during the assaults and used a mobile phone to capture explicit images and videos. The girl managed to escape to a relative’s residence to alert emergency services via the 112 helpline.

Police swiftly intervened, placing the minor under protective care and medical assessment. Both parents have been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Investigators confirmed the seizure of electronic devices containing material evidence as judicial proceedings continue.

Panic gripped a household in the Sonaghati area of Betul, Madhya Pradesh, late Sunday night after residents discovered a five-foot-long venomous cobra coiled near the toilet seat. The reptile was spotted by family members of local businessman K.K. Malviya, who noticed the snake hissing and raising its hood inside the bathroom.

Exercising caution, the occupants immediately evacuated the space, closed off access to the washroom, and alerted local wildlife rescuer Vishal Vishwakarma rather than attempting to handle or neutralize the serpent themselves.
Upon arriving at the residence, Vishwakarma cleared the area to keep onlookers at a safe distance before carrying out a careful extraction operation.

Despite the snake remaining agitated and displaying a defensive posture, Vishwakarma captured the reptile without causing injury to the animal or the residents. The cobra was subsequently placed into a container and relocated to a nearby forest area away from human settlements.

Wildlife authorities and rescuers reiterated the importance of checking dark corners and washrooms before use at night, advising citizens to immediately seek professional intervention whenever venomous reptiles wander into homes.

A viral confrontation at a supermarket inside the DLF Mall of India in Sector 18, Noida, drew widespread online attention after staff intercepted a woman over suspected shoplifting.

The incident occurred on Monday when store employees and female security personnel stopped the customer, alleging that she had concealed premium jars of desi ghee and refined cooking oil in her personal bag without paying.

In the circulating 30-second clip, store workers claimed she was a repeat offender previously spotted on surveillance footage, while the woman was seen shielding her face with a mobile phone as staff questioned her.

Despite the tense confrontation and heated exchange inside the premises, Noida Police from the Sector 20 jurisdiction clarified that no formal First Information Report (FIR) or legal action was initiated. Authorities reported that the woman explained a companion was handling the billing counter.

The total bill for the disputed groceries was promptly paid and settled at the counter, leading both the store management and the customer to reach a mutual resolution. The woman was allowed to leave the mall premises freely once the payment was confirmed.

Asha Devi, 22, was allegedly killed in Madhurapur Ward 6 of Vaishali’s Bidupur area on Sunday night, as police investigate her death.

According to India Today, Asha’s husband, Sujeet Paswan, 29, allegedly assaulted her with a stick following a dispute involving the children from their previous marriages. After the incident, Sujeet and other family members reportedly left the house, leaving Asha’s five-year-old daughter, Anshika, alone.

The child reportedly told relatives that her stepfather beat her mother with a stick after dinner. She also said her grandparents were not at home when the incident occurred.

Asha and Sujeet had married around two-and-a-half years ago, and it was the second marriage for both. Asha’s parents alleged that disputes over the children had become frequent and that she had faced physical abuse.

Her mother alleged that Asha had not been given food for several days and had called her family around 9 pm, asking them to take her away because she feared for her life. The family planned to collect her the next morning, but received news of her death instead.

Police and an FSL team examined the scene, while Asha’s body was sent for postmortem. Efforts to trace the accused are underway.

According to an X user who claimed to have witnessed the incident, the couple approached the young passenger and asked him to exchange his side-lower berth, arguing that they were older and would find it difficult to use an upper berth. The passenger reportedly said he had paid around â‚ą2,100 for his ticket.

He then offered a condition: if the couple wanted his side-lower berth, they could pay him 50% of the ticket cost — ₹1,050. The couple reportedly declined, while the passenger continued using his berth.

The incident has divided social media users. Some criticised the passenger, saying elderly travellers deserve empathy and that helping them access a lower berth is a matter of basic courtesy. Others defended him, arguing that he had legitimately booked and paid for his preferred berth and should not be pressured to surrender it.

The debate has also raised questions about railway berth allocation for senior citizens and whether passengers should be expected to exchange reserved seats based on age.

The trip sparked political and social-media reactions, with critics questioning her absence while several Bihar districts, including Darbhanga and Saran, were dealing with widespread flooding. A video from Madhya Pradesh’s Guna has sparked questions over patient assistance at a government hospital after a woman was seen carrying her differently-abled brother on her back to a ward.

The woman, identified as Krishnabai from Borkhedi village in the Raghogarh area, had reportedly brought her brother Jagdish to the Guna District Hospital for treatment. Jagdish has reportedly been unwell for around a year and is unable to walk without assistance.

According to Krishnabai, after reaching the hospital, she tried to arrange a stretcher and sought help from staff but could not get assistance. With her brother unable to walk and no immediate alternative available, she carried him on her back through the hospital corridor to the ward. The incident was recorded on video and later circulated on social media.

However, hospital authorities have denied that there was any shortage of stretchers. In-charge Civil Surgeon Dr Rajkumar Rishishwar said adequate stretchers were available near the Critical Care Block and the old hospital premises. He also said ward boys and multi-utility staff are assigned to help transport patients, and relatives can seek their assistance.

The contrasting accounts have raised questions about whether assistance was actually accessible when the family needed it.

France is facing a major wave of high-school student protests that began in the Paris region in September and have since spread across the country. Students have been demanding more teachers, less overcrowding, improved school facilities and better learning conditions.

The demonstrations have included school blockades, street marches and clashes with police. Fires, including burning rubbish bins and fires outside schools, have produced dramatic images that have circulated widely online. More than 400 schools were expected to be fully or partially closed on Monday, while authorities said around 5,000 people had been arrested, most of them minors.

However, viral posts portraying the unrest as proof that France has “fallen” because of immigrants are misleading. Reporting from Reuters, AP and other major outlets attributes the movement's origins to longstanding education problems rather than immigration.

The claim that France has newly deployed 7,000 soldiers because of the current protests is also misleading. France had already deployed about 7,000 military personnel under Operation Sentinelle in 2023 to protect vulnerable sites following terrorist threats and attacks.

While the protests have undoubtedly turned violent in some locations, the underlying student movement remains centered on education and school conditions.

A 20-year-old college student in Indore allegedly attacked her 75-year-old grandfather with a cricket bat in the early hours of Sunday, after telling police that he had sexually abused her when she was a child.

According to police, the woman had an argument with her parents late Saturday night after returning home late. During the dispute, she reportedly brought up the alleged abuse from her childhood and questioned why her parents had not intervened at the time.

Police said she subsequently left home on her motorcycle carrying a cricket bat and went to her grandparents’ house around 3am. Her grandmother reportedly opened the door, after which the woman went into her grandfather’s room and attacked him.

The elderly man was seriously injured and taken to Aurobindo Hospital, where he later died during treatment. Police said the woman was taken into custody and questioned about the incident.

During questioning, she allegedly claimed that her grandfather had repeatedly touched her inappropriately when she was a child. Police are investigating her allegations, the family’s history and the circumstances surrounding the attack.
