India's Commonwealth Games 2026 campaign in Glasgow was one for the history books!

Team India finished 4th in the overall medal table with a total of 39 medals: 13 Gold 🥇, 17 Silver 🥈, and 9 Bronze 🥉, competing across 8 able-bodied sports and 5 integrated para sports, despite a reduced programme that excluded medal-rich sports like wrestling, badminton, table tennis, hockey, and shooting.

Here's what stood out:

🥊 Boxing was the standout performer, delivering a record 10 medals, including 7 gold, the most golds won by any nation in the sport at a single Commonwealth Games. Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain added a silver, while Sakshi Chaudhary emerged as one of India's brightest stars.

🥋 Judo scripted history too, with India winning its first-ever Commonwealth Games gold medals two golds among three medals- marking the country's best-ever judo performance at the Games.

♿ India's Para contingent had its most successful CWG campaign ever, winning 7 medals (3 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze), matching the country's combined para medal tally from all previous editions combined. Para athletics alone contributed 6 medals, ending a 20-year wait for an Indian podium finish in the discipline.

🏋️ Weightlifting also chipped in with 8 medals, led by Mirabai Chanu's record-breaking opening gold.

122 Indian athletes represented the nation on the world stage in Glasgow and brought home a performance that will be remembered for years to come.

🥈 Proud Moment for India: Congratulations, !

Huge congratulations to weightlifter Valluri Ajaya Babu on winning the Silver Medal in the Men's 79kg category at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow!

With a remarkable total lift of 330kg (149kg sn**ch + 181kg clean & jerk), Ajaya also set a new Commonwealth Games record in the Sn**ch, narrowly missing gold by just 1kg in one of the closest contests of the Games.

What makes this even more special: 16 years ago, his father Valluri Srinivasa Rao won bronze at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. Today, his son has gone one step further, a true full-circle moment of legacy, grit, and glory for Indian weightlifting.

At just 21, is already one of India's finest lifters on the international stage, and this is only the beginning.
