"I have rejoiced greatly with you in our Lord Jesus Christ because you have followed the example of true love. You supported those in chains, as was fitting for you; those chains are the proper ornaments of saints and are truly the crowns of those chosen by God and our Lord. I also rejoice because the strong root of your faith, famous from the earliest days, remains until now and continues to bring forth fruit to our Lord Jesus Christ. He suffered even to the point of death for our sins, but “Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death”. “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory”. Many desire to enter into this joy, knowing that “by grace ye are saved, not of works”, but by the will of God through Jesus Christ."
