The MOMOWI Screenwriting Awards 2025
Dear movie lovers/friends!
മലയാള സിനിമ ജാലകം (Mollywood Movie Window), hereinafter, is announcing a project of 10 selected for the new projects of GM Films' upcoming productions!
These 10 short movies will have great and from the group, മലയാള സിനിമ ജാലകം (Mollywood Movie Window) and from outside with popular movie actors and technicians!
Selection of is strictly based on educational qualifications and film study (for freshers) or *5 years' experience in the particular field.
*5 years' experience: We are not just counting years, but the movie projects you have completed does matters!
Details below:
Short movies: Must have at least 5 finished projects (10-30 minutes) with link for approval or
Feature Film: 1 finished feature film
The MOMOWI Screenwriting Awards 2025
As the first step, we are inviting to submit a 15-25-minute-long for a contest!
Eligibility:
1 You must be over 18 years of age on the date of screenplay submission.
2. Minimum a degree in any subject from accredited university.
3. A course completion certificate in screenplay writing (3-12 months) or
5 released short movies in which you must provide the short movie link for verification as experience or 1 released feature film link for verification.
Important information:
1. If you are eligible to submit your screenplay, please follow the below instructions:
2. We do not promote any kind of religion or politics. So, you should not mention any religion or politics in the script! If you do so, your script will be rejected from the first scrutiny!
3. Writers who reside in other states/countries are also welcome and encouraged to enter the contest; however, all screenplays must be submitted either in Malayalam or in English and entry fees must be paid in Indian Rupees.
4. You must submit a fresh, unused and completed short movie screenplay and it must be your own original work.
5. Screenplay that use extreme profanity, nudity or hateful messages will be rejected!
6. Your script should be typed and saved as Portable Document Format (PDF) and send as an email attachment. No manuscript photocopy is accepted!
7. We suggest you REGISTER your script on the government website to protect it from copyright violations (those who need the details and website address, we have an old post related to this in our group or contact us) before sending it to us or anybody! We are NOT responsible for any kind of copyright issues thereafter!
8. We will appoint a judging panel to read and evaluate your submitted screenplay which includes famous movie script writers and movie directors. Selection of winners is strictly based on the quality of your script by the judging panel. Therefore, the decisions of judges are final.
9. All entries are final. We cannot return screenplays or refund entry fees once they have been submitted.
Screenplay Guidelines:
1. Title - Screenplay judging process is anonymous. So, please include only the title of the screenplay on your title page. We will assign your screenplay a number, and our Judges will identify your screenplay solely by its title and script number. You shouldn’t write your name or contact information within the body of your screenplay which may reject your screenplay on scrutiny!
2. Format - Screenplay should be written in standard spec screenplay format, set in 12-point Courier/Courier New font.
Margins: 1.5 inches left, 1 inch right, 1 inch top and bottom
Page length: Approximately 55 lines per page to keep a one-page-to-one-minute screen-time ratio
Page numbers: Placed in the top right corner, half an inch from the top. The first page is not numbered, and the number is followed by a period.
Text and elements
Scene headings: Must be in all caps (e.g., INT. COFFEE SHOP - DAY)
Character names: All caps, starting at 3.7 inches from the left margin
Dialogue: Starts at 2.5 inches from the left side of the page
Action lines: In present tense, left-aligned, with short paragraphs to maintain readability
Parenthetical: Brief instructions in parentheses, placed below the character name and before the dialogue
Transitions: Capitalized, such as CUT TO:

3. First 10 selected short movie screenplays will be included in GM Films' next projects (Production nos. 8-17) and will start the pre-production works soon after the Award Ceremony conducted in the capital city!
The selected 10 short movie screenplay writers will be awarded with:

(d) How to submit your screenplay:
You are requested to email us if you are interested to join for the contest. We will reply with the Entry Form and Entry Fee payment details. Once you completed the payment process, you may fill the Entry Form and attach it with the below documents:
1.*Entry form (to be filled)
2. Entry Fee Payment slip
3. Scanned copy of your degree certificate
4. Scanned copy of your Aadhaar/passport
5. Scanned copy of your film study (script writing, 3-12months) certificate or
link of your finished movie projects in case of experience for verification. Your link should be in YouTube or Google Drive.
