You can begin life anew
By: Dr. Jack Graham
Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; blessed is the man to whom the LORD shall not impute sin (NKJV).
–Romans 4:7-8
One of the great truths of salvation is that you and I can forget the guilt of the past and the stained pages of yesterday and begin life anew! How awesome it is to know the forgiveness, the glorious love of Jesus Christ.
We discussed yesterday the truth that every man, women, and child, no matter how good a life they have lead, are not perfect, have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.
The reality is all of us, even the heroes of the Bible, have committed sinful acts against God and man. Think of King David, not the psalmist, not the hero who killed the wicked Goliath, nor the powerful king of Israel, but the man who committed adultery and then planned the death of an innocent man so that he might continue to sin. David, despite the fact God had protected and blessed him time and time again, choose to delve deeply into sin. When confronted with his wicked actions, David repented. Though there were earthly consequences of his sinful actions, David was restored in his relationship with God. Because David fully repented, he knew the joy of forgiveness.
Today, thank God that all your sins…past, present, and future…are forgiven because of God’s forgiveness through Christ Jesus!

Unleashing the power of prayer

“Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”

–Jeremiah 33:3

What part does prayer play in your personal life?

If your spiritual life seems to lack power, you can probably trace the problem to a lack of true, heartfelt prayer and communication with the Lord. How can you and I have his presence and power without talking to and listening to God?

The early church was not lacking in power. The early believers were praying people who were devoted to the teaching of the Word. And like them, we have been urged to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17), which means we should make it a habit of our being to commune with the Lord.

If you don’t know how to pray, you can use the model that Jesus gave in Luke 11. Or pray the Scriptures themselves. This is the way to unleash the power of prayer in your life. Because prayer invites the presence and the power of God into our lives, into our families, and into our church!

Start now and make prayer your personal assignment. Let it invade every aspect of your life. Just come to him as those first disciples did and say, “Lord, teach me to pray.”
