In the last two years, the rise of digital creators especially on Facebook has been exponential, including in Manipur. This wave has brought a mix of intentions; while some genuinely aspire to become content creators who share real value, others jump into the scene solely for the sake of monetization. Everyone may know how to use Facebook, but not everyone understands how to use social media meaningfully or what it truly means to be a responsible creator. Still, it's inspiring to see people from Manipur exploring content creation, testing their voice, creativity, and ideas. The creator economy is growing rapidly and will only expand in the coming years. But to truly become a digital creator, one must focus on producing content that is either entertaining, informative, or uplifting. Content that adds value, sparks thought, and benefits the community. When done right, content creation can help build a strong personal brand, attract an audience that cares, and open doors to bigger opportunities. For creators from Manipur, it’s a powerful way to tell our stories, share our culture, and bring positive recognition to the state.
However, there’s a darker side to this journey. While many creators work hard to add value, some are driven purely by the thirst for views, engagement, and money. They repost videos from other platforms, pretending it’s their own, often without giving credit or context. Some dig up outdated incidents and frame them as recent events just to gain reach. There are even cases where manipulated content is used like adding images of deceased individuals, or tragic visuals, and falsely connecting them to Manipur to create emotional reactions. Even more disturbing, some pages upload inappropriate videos of girls from the Philippines or other countries, pair them with Manipuri songs, and pass them off as local girls, misleading people and deeply damaging the image and dignity of Manipuri women and the state as a whole. These actions are not just irresponsible—they are dangerous. Media and content aren’t just pixels, they shape perception. They can uplift a place or destroy its identity in the eyes of the world.
Being a digital creator, especially from Manipur, comes with responsibility. It’s not just about clout, fame, or quick money. It takes effort, discipline, creativity, and values. It’s a tough journey—filled with content blocks, low reach days, hate comments, and burnout. But if your intention is right and your content is meaningful, your impact will go far beyond likes. You will inspire, educate, and contribute to something bigger than yourself.
Let’s support the creators from our state who are genuinely adding value through good content and let’s not hesitate to report and stand against those who misuse the platform just for the sake of monetization, fake engagement, and clout.
Digital creators of Manipur need to understand that content is power and with that power comes the responsibility to protect the truth, uplift the community, and represent the state with integrity, pride, and purpose.
