Harikrishnan, fondly known as Hari (played by Girish Nambiar) in the popular Malayalam serial Santhwanam, is the second son of the family and represents a gentle, responsible, and emotional pillar of the household. He is characterized by his intense devotion to his elder brother, Balan, and his deep respect for his sister-in-law, Sreedevi (Devi), whom he views as a mother figure. Unlike his more impulsive brother Shiva, Hari is generally calm, soft-spoken, and acts as a mediator during family conflicts, making him a reliable, middle-ground figure within the joint family setting. Despite marrying Aparna (Appu) against the initial wishes of the family matriarch, Lakshmi Amma, Hari works hard to balance his love for his wife with his loyalty to the Santhwanam family, often facing emotional turmoil to keep both sides happy.
As the narrative progresses, Hari evolves from a soft-spoken family member into a more mature and protective husband and father. He is deeply influenced by the family's unity and takes pride in their business, Krishna Stores, even when facing financial crises. Hari is deeply impacted by the conflicts between his wife and the elder family members, often finding himself in a difficult spot. Later in the series, he stands up for the family's honor, questioning Aparna when her actions hurt Devi or Lakshmi, showing his unwavering commitment to the familial bond. In the latter stages, he shows maturity by venturing into an advertising agency and striving for financial independence, ultimately becoming a key, mature figure in maintaining the peace and stability of the Santhwanam household
