Archaeological Sites of Bat, Al-Khutm and Al-Ayn

The protohistoric archaeological complex of Bat, al-Khutm and al-Ayn represents one of the most complete and well preserved ensembles of settlements and necropolises from the 3rd millennium BCE worldwide. Seven monumental stone towers have been discovered at Bat and one is located in al-Khutm, 2 km west of Bat. The towers feature a circular outer wall about 20-25 m in diameter, and two rows of parallel compartments on either side of a central well. The earliest known tower at Bat is the mud-brick Hafit-period structure underneath the Early Umm an-Nar stone tower at Matariya. The latest known tower is probably Kasr al-Rojoom, which can be ceramically dated to the Late Umm an-Nar period (ca. 2200-2000). All of the stone-built towers show dressed blocks of local limestone laid carefully with simple mud mortar.Worth to visit. Almost 40 km far from Amla- Al ayn exit of Bahla -ibri road.

Arabian red fox (Vulpes vulpes arabica) is a subspecies of the red fox native to Arabia, specifically Dhofar and Al Hajar Mountains in Oman and they are also found in UAE Syria, Jordan and Israel to Saudi Arabia and Yemen. The Arabian red fox is similar in color to the common red fox. However, it is more adapted to desert life than its parent species. The fox's ears are much larger, and its body is much smaller than that of the red fox.

Jebel Shams
(Mountain of the sun)
Jebel Shams Arabic: جبل شمس, is a mountain located in northeastern Oman north of Al Hamra town. It is the highest mountain of the country and part of Al Hajar Mountains range. It is a popular sightseeing area located 240 km from Muscat. Jebel Shams is best known not for its peak but for the view into the spectacularly deep Wadi Ghul lying alongside it. The straight-sided Wadi Ghul is known locally as the Grand Canyon of Arabia as it fissures abruptly between the flat canyon rims, exposing vertical cliffs of 1000m and more.
While there is nothing ‘to do’ exactly at the top, the area makes a wonderful place to take photographs, hike the balcony trail, have a picnic etc.. Also jabel shams top is very famous for star gazers and Astro photography lovers who likes to shoot Milkyway, star trails etc..

Treasures of Sultanate,
Sultanate of Oman as it is popularly known is located such that it is surrounded by the Arabian sea in its south and the Gulf of Oman on the north west. This geographical positioning of this Arab nation makes it a great destination for offshore fishing.
