Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s Fastest-Growing Urban Hub
According to recent city profiling conducted for Technopark, the population of Thiruvananthapuram has surpassed 4.3 million (43 lakhs) in 2025, marking a significant demographic and economic transformation for the capital region.
The development of major infrastructure projects — including the Kadambattukonam–Madurai Economic Corridor, Outer Ring Road (Navayikulam to Vizhinjam), Attingal Bypass, and the Nedumangad–Thiruvananthapuram four-lane highway — has redefined Thiruvananthapuram as a fully integrated city with enhanced connectivity and industrial potential.
Back in 2011, Thiruvananthapuram ranked only second to Malappuram in population, but its urban density and expansion rate have now positioned it among the most rapidly urbanizing districts in Kerala. The government’s plans to establish industrial corridors extending towards Kollam and Punalur further reinforce this growth momentum.
Over the past decade, the city has witnessed substantial migration, vehicle registrations, and real estate development, reflecting a strong inward economic pull. With continuous infrastructure upgrades and a thriving IT ecosystem led by Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram is emerging as Kerala’s most dynamic and densely populated urban centre — signaling a new chapter in its growth story.
