തിരുവനന്തപുരം നഗരത്തിലെ സ്പാകൾക്കെതിരെ കർശന നടപടി സ്വീകരിക്കുമെന്നും, പുരുഷന്മാർക്ക് സ്ത്രീകൾ മസാജ് ചെയ്യുന്ന ‘ക്രോസ് മസാജ്’ രീതിക്ക് അനുമതി നൽകില്ലെന്നും മേയർ അടുത്തിടെ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. ഒരു മസാജ് സെന്ററിലെ ജോലി അഭിമുഖത്തിനിടെ യുവതിക്ക് നേരിടേണ്ടി വന്ന മോശം അനുഭവവും ചില ക്രിമിനൽ സംഭവങ്ങളുമാണ് ഈ നിലപാടിന് പശ്ചാത്തലമെന്ന് അധികൃതർ വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നു.

നിയമലംഘനങ്ങൾ നടന്നിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ അതിനെതിരെ ശക്തമായ നടപടി അനിവാര്യമാണ്. കുറ്റവാളികൾ ശിക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടണം. എന്നാൽ സുരക്ഷയും സംസ്കാരവും സംരക്ഷിക്കണമെന്ന പേരിൽ ഒരു മുഴുവൻ മേഖലയെ സംശയത്തിന്റെ ചട്ടക്കൂടിൽ ഒതുക്കുന്നത് യുക്തിസഹമാണോ എന്ന ചോദ്യവും ഉയരുന്നു.

180 പ്രസാധകര്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്ന പുസ്തകോത്സവത്തില്‍, 300 സ്റ്റാളുകളായിരിക്കും ഉണ്ടാവുക. പുസ്തകപ്രകാശനങ്ങള്‍, പുസ്തകചര്‍ച്ചകള്‍, സംവാദങ്ങള്‍, എഴുത്തുകാരുമായുള്ള അഭിമുഖസംഭാഷണങ്ങള്‍, പ്രഭാഷണങ്ങള്‍ എന്നിങ്ങനെ നിരവധി പരിപാടികളാണ് ആറ് വേദികളിലായി നടക്കുന്നത്.
