ಏಕಾಗ್ರತೆ ಅಂದರೆ ಗುರಿಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬೇರೆ ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಿಚಾರ ಮಾಡದಿರುವುದು. ಸತತ ವಿಚಾರ ಮಾಡುವುದು ಹಾಗೂ ಚಂಚಲತೆಯು ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಗುಣಧರ್ಮವಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಏಕಾಗ್ರತೆಯನ್ನು ಗಳಿಸುವುದು ಕಷ್ಟಕರವಾಗಿದೆ. ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ದೇವರ ನಾಮಸ್ಮರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಏಕಾಗ್ರತೆಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಸಹಾಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಆಲಸ್ಯವೆ೦ಬುದು ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಶರೀರ ದಲ್ಲೇ ಇರುವ೦ತಹ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಶತ್ರು. ಅದನ್ನು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಜೀವನದಿ೦ದಲೇ ಚಿವುಟಿ ಹಾಕಬೇಕು.

“ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪವೇ ಪಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಾಯಶ್ಚಿತ್ತವಂತೆ” ಎಂಬ ಒಂದು ಮಾತಿದೆ. ನೀವು ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ನಿಮ್ಮಿಂದಾದ ತಪ್ಪಿಗೆ ಪರಿತಾಪ ಪಟ್ಟಿರಿ ಎಂದಾದರೆ, ಆಮೇಲೆ ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಇತರರು ವಿಧಿಸುವ ಅಥವಾ ನಿಮಗೆ ನೀವೇ ವಿಧಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ.

ಭಾರತವು ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಪರಂಪರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗಳ ತವರೂರು. ಆದರೆ ಕೆಲವೊಂದು ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಆಚರಣೆಗಳು, ಇಡೀ ಭಾರತದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಒಂದೇ ರೀತಿ ಪಾಲಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬರಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸುವ ಬಗೆಯಂತು ಇಡೀ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ಸಹ ಕಾಣಬಹುದು. ಅಂತಹ ಆಚರಣೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಗಳ ಅಥವಾ ವೃಕ್ಷಗಳ ಆರಾಧನೆ. ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸುವುದರ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹಲವಾರು ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಾವು, ವಿವಿಧ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಬಹುದು.

ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿಡಿತಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿಲುಕದ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಹಂತಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಿಸದೆ ಹೋದರೆ ಬುದ್ದಿಭ್ರಮಣೆಯಂತಹ ಆಪತ್ತನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸಬೇಕಾಗುವುದಂತು ನಿಶ್ಚಿತ. ಮನೋನಿಗ್ರಹದಿಂದ ಒಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಪಡೆಯಬಹುದಾದ ಪರಮಸ್ಥಿತಿಯೆಂದರೆ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮ ಸಿದ್ಧಿಯೇ... ಮನೋನಿಗ್ರಹದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತವಾಗುವ ಇತರ ಶ್ರೇಯಸ್ಸುಗಳೂ ಉಂಟು. ನಿಗ್ರಹಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ ಏಕಾಗ್ರಗೊಳಿಸಬಹುದು.
