Legislative Assembly Delegation Participates in Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Zone-II Conference at Haryana
A high-level delegation from the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, led by Hon’ble Speaker Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather, participated in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Zone-II Conference held in Haryana. The conference brought together representatives from 15 States and Union Territories of India to deliberate on the theme “Role of Aware Society and Legislators in Realizing Future Challenges and the Goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.”
The Jammu & Kashmir delegation comprised senior legislators including Hon’ble MLA Mr. Mubarak Gul, Hon’ble MLA Mr. Ajaz Jan, Hon’ble MLA Prof. Gharu Ram Bhagat, Hon’ble MLA Mr. Iftkhar Ahmed, Hon’ble MLA Mr. Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, Hon’ble MLA Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj, Hon’ble MLA Dr. Rameshwar Singh, and Secretary, J&K Legislative Assembly, Mr. Manoj Kumar Pandit.
The conference was attended by distinguished dignitaries, including Hon’ble Speaker Lok Sabha Shri Om Birla Ji, Hon’ble Deputy Chairman Rajya Sabha Shri Harivansh Ji, Hon’ble Speaker Haryana Legislative Assembly Shri Harvinder Kalyan Ji, along with Presiding Officers, legislators and parliamentary delegates from across the country.
The deliberations focused on the vital role of an informed and aware society in strengthening democratic institutions and achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Speakers highlighted that while governments formulate policies and provide direction, the active participation of citizens and the commitment of legislators are essential for addressing emerging challenges and ensuring inclusive development.
Key issues discussed during the conference included climate change and environmental sustainability, technological disruptions and ethical use of artificial intelligence, employment generation and skill development, urbanization and infrastructure needs, cybersecurity and data protection, and strengthening social harmony in an increasingly interconnected world.
The conference emphasized the importance of quality education, institutional accountability, innovation, youth engagement and transparent governance as the pillars of a developed India. Delegates exchanged views on best legislative practices, public participation in governance and strategies to build resilient democratic institutions capable of meeting future challenges.
The J&K delegation actively participated in the discussions and reiterated its commitment towards strengthening democratic values, promoting inclusive growth and contributing to the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The participation of Jammu & Kashmir in the conference provided an important platform for sharing experiences, learning from best practices across States and enhancing the role of legislators in nation-building.
The conference concluded with a collective resolve to work towards an informed society, stronger democratic institutions and a prosperous, inclusive and developed India by 2047.
