𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗜, 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟬𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: Continuing its sustained campaign against drug trafficking under the 𝗡𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮 𝗠𝘂𝗸𝘁 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗺𝘂 & 𝗞𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗶𝗿 𝗔𝗯𝗵𝗶𝘆𝗮𝗻, Reasi Police has achieved a major success by securing the preventive detention of two notorious and habitual drug peddlers under the provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.

The detenues, Suresh Kumar alias Bantu S/O Sansar Chand R/O Matyal, Katra, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi and Hussain Mohd S/O Sharief Mohd R/O Chamba, Chandwa, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, have been detained pursuant to formal detention orders issued by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sh. Ramesh Kumar (IAS) and subsequently lodged in District Jail Rajouri.

Suresh Kumar alias Bantu was involved in multiple NDPS cases, including:

1. FIR No. 116/2024 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act, Police Station Katra.
2. FIR No. 236/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act, Police Station Katra.
3. FIR No. 145/2026 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act, Police Station Katra.

Similarly, Hussain Mohd was found repeatedly involved in narcotics-related activities and was booked in the following NDPS cases:

1. FIR No. 51/2023 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act, Police Station Katra.
2. FIR No. 122/2026 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act, Police Station Katra.

Both accused are engaged in illicit drug trafficking activities, posing a serious threat to society and the younger generation. In view of their repeated involvement in narcotics offences, detailed dossiers along with supporting documents were prepared by Reasi Police and submitted to the competent authority for their preventive detention under the PIT-NDPS Act.

Acting on the recommendations and after careful examination of the records, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu issued detention orders against both habitual offenders. Accordingly, the detenues have been lodged in District Jail Rajouri to prevent them from continuing their involvement in the illicit drug trade.

Reasi Police remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicate the drug menace from society and reiterates that stringent legal action, including preventive detention under the PIT-NDPS Act, will continue against habitual drug peddlers and all those involved in narcotics trafficking.

Udhampur, June 07:

Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking under the *Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan* Udhampur Police have apprehended two drug peddlers in separate operations and recovered he**in from their possessions.

*Case-1:* During naka checking at Phalata on NHW, Rehambal Police intercepted a suspicious person coming on foot from the Tikri side. The person was identified as *Heelal Ahmad S/O Attit Kull R/O Hurlani Dansal, Jammu.*

During his frisking, 2.34 grams of he**in was recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, FIR No. 129/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Rehambal.

*Case-2:* A police party of PP Roun Domail, while on patrolling duty near Railway Station Roun Domail, noticed a suspicious person who attempted to evade the police upon spotting the Police team. The individual was apprehended and identified as *Aman Sharma S/O Ramesh Chander R/O Shiv Nagar, Udhampur.*

During his search, 6.46 grams of he**in was recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, *FIR No. 246/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Udhampur.*

Bari, Ramnagar, June 7: A two-day Volleyball Tournament organized by the Raja Basak Volleyball Club Bari concluded successfully at Panchayat Bari, Tehsil Ramnagar, with enthusiastic participation from players and sports lovers across the region.

A total of twelve volleyball teams participated in the tournament, promoting healthy competition, sportsmanship, and community engagement. The final match was played between Six Boxer Volleyball Club and Udhampur Volleyball Club. In an impressive display of skill and teamwork, Six Boxer Volleyball Club defeated Udhampur Volleyball Club by 2–0 sets to emerge as the tournament champions.

The organizing committee invited Shri Pawan Dev Singh, Chairman, Progressive Youth Forum, as the Chief Guest, while Shri Anoop Singh, President, Progressive Youth Forum, attended as the Guest of Honour. The dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the organizers in providing a platform for youth to showcase their sporting talent and encouraged young people to actively participate in sports and constructive activities.

Addressing the gathering, the guests emphasized that the primary objective of the tournament was to curb the growing drug menace by engaging youth in sports and other constructive activities. They highlighted the vital role of sports in promoting discipline, teamwork, physical fitness, and social harmony among the youth.

Among those who witnessed and graced the tournament were Shri Rashpaul Singh, Lecturer; Shri Raj Kumar, Lecturer; Shri Ashutosh Bandral; Shri Manmohan Singh; Shri Bhaj Singh; and Shri Ajay Singh, Contractor, along with a large number of sports enthusiasts and local residents.

The tournament concluded with the distribution of trophies and prizes to the winning and runner-up teams. The organizers expressed gratitude to all participating teams, guests, supporters, and local residents for making the event a grand success.

Social Activist Ravinder Singh Kaka has raised his voice over the lack of 5G network connectivity in the Kandi areas of Kathua district. He said that people are paying for expensive 5G recharge plans, but many villages are still unable to access 5G services and are forced to rely on weaker network connectivity.
Ravinder Singh Kaka urged the telecom companies and concerned authorities to improve network infrastructure in the Kandi belt so that residents can receive the services they are paying for. Although telecom operators have announced 5G expansion in Kathua district, many rural and Kandi areas continue to face connectivity issues. �
