Chakal Sports Event & Youth Sammelan 2026 Begins at Chakal Stadium

The Chakal Sports Event & Youth Sammelan 2026 has commenced today at Chakal Stadium, Basantgarh, with enthusiastic participation from local youth and sports teams.

The event will continue tomorrow, 13 September 2026, along with a special Culture Program showcasing local talent, music and cultural traditions.

The main message of the event is to encourage young people to choose a healthy and positive lifestyle through sports and community participation.

SAY NO TO DRUGS

The organisers have appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and focus on sports, education, talent and constructive activities.

The event aims to promote sportsmanship, youth unity, local culture and a drug-free society in the Basantgarh area.

KATHUA, 11 SEP ;
Continuing its efforts to discourage the trade and transportation of illicit liquor, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma -IPS* arrested one bootlegger & recovered 62 bottles of JK Special Desi Whisky i.e 12 Bottles of 750 ml each and 50 Quarters (180ml each) from the possession of one person at Hutt Mashka area of PS Basohli and seized vehicle (Eco Van) involved.

On 10-09-2026 police team led by *SHO PS Basohli* under the supervision of *SP Ops. Upper Kathua* and *SDPO Basohli* during naka/ checking in its jurisdictional area at Hutt Mashka area intercepted one. Eco Van bearing Reg. No. JK08H-2659 driven by one person namely Sunil Kumar S/o Uttam chand R/o Draman Tehsil Basohli District Kathua who was enrouted from Mashka side towards Draman under suspicious circumstances. During checking 62 bottles of JK Special Desi Whisky i.e 12 Bottles of (750 ml each) & 50 Qtrs. of (180 ml each) recovered from his possession. In this regard a case FIR No 48/2026 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act has been registered at PS Basohli.

*SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma- IPS* assures that strict action will be taken against anyone caught involved in illegal Trade/transportation of illicit liquor.
The general public appreciates the efforts of Police in seizing the Illicit liquor and apprehending the accused and believes that such actions will deter others from engaging in similar activities.

*J&K POLICE KATHUA SEIZED APPROX 18 GRAMS OF HE**IN -CHITTA LIKE SUBSTANCE AT NAGRI; 01 DRUG PEDDLER ARRESTED.*

KATHUA; 11 SEP:-In continuation of its sustained crackdown on narcotics under the * Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan*, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma-IPS* recovered/ seized *approx 18 grams of He**in (Chitta) like narcotics* in the jurisdictional area of PP Nagri Parole (PS Kathua ), 01 drug peddler arrested.

On 10-09-2026, acting on the intelligent input received through a reliable source, a Police team led by *IC PP Nagri Parole* under the guidance of *Addl SP kathua, DySP Hqrs Kathua & SHO PS Kathua* laid down a special naka/ checking at Nagri area, apprehended one person namely:- *Liaquat Ali S/o Teg Ali R/o Jarai District Kathua* who was enrouted on foot from Chak towards Khokyal, Nagri under suspicious circumstances.

During Checking *approx 18 grams of he**in (Chitta) like substance* recovered from his possession. The recovered contraband was seized and the accused person was taken into police custody on the spot. In this connection, a case *FIR No. 451/2026 U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS Act* has been registered at PS Kathua while further investigation is underway.

District Police Kathua again requested people of the area to come forward and share information on 112 or 9858034100 about any such illicit activity with Police for the cause. Your identity will be kept confidential.

Raqeeq Ahmed Khan Leads Protest at Yadgar Chowk Mendhar Accuses NC Government of Failing to Fulfil Election Promises and Deliver Development

MENDHAR, September 11: The Apni Party staged a strong protest against the National Conference (NC) government at Yadgar Chowk in Mendhar on Thursday under the leadership of party spokesperson Raqeeq Ahmed Khan. During the protest, party workers raised slogans against the NC government and burnt its effigy as a mark of protest.
Addressing the protesters, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan alleged that the National Conference had made several promises to the people of Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the elections, but had failed to fulfil even a single major commitment after coming to power.
He alleged that the present UT government has failed miserably on the development front, claiming that the pace of construction and development across Jammu and Kashmir has remained unsatisfactory. He further said that people continue to face difficulties regarding basic amenities and developmental works.
Raqeeq Ahmed Khan urged the government to honour the commitments made to the people before the elections and accelerate pending development projects across Jammu and Kashmir.
The protest concluded with party workers raising slogans against the government and demanding immediate action on issues concerning the common people.
