Special Enforcement Drive Conducted by ARTO Ramban Across Key Locations
RAMBAN, July 19:
In compliance with the guidelines issued by the Secretary Transport, Transport Commissioner J&K, and under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Ramban, a special enforcement drive was conducted by the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Ramban, along with a team of Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVIs), across various routes of the district.
The drive covered key areas including Ballwat, National Highway, Ramban, Maitra, and surrounding regions. During the operation, over 300 vehicles were checked for violations of the Motor Vehicles Act. As a result, 75 vehicles were e-challaned for various offenses. These included 6 vehicles without Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC), 21 riders without helmets, 5 vehicles without insurance, 1 without a valid route permit, 9 for overloading passengers, 24 drivers without driving licences, 3 vehicles without fitness certificates, 3 without Speed Limiting Devices (SLD), and 4 other violations under Section 177 of the MV Act. The total amount of penalties collected through e-challans amounted to ₹2,93,800.
Additionally, 22 vehicles were seized under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The MVIs also recommended suspension of 10 driving licences based on the nature of violations.
Beyond enforcement, the ARTO Ramban conducted counselling sessions with bike riders and other road users to raise awareness about road safety, traffic rules, and responsible driving behaviour. These interactions aimed at encouraging the public to adopt safe and lawful practices on roads.
The Transport Department reiterated its commitment to ensuring road safety, minimizing traffic violations, and safeguarding public lives through a consistent approach of enforcement and awareness initiatives across Ramban district.
