Scientists have discovered a molecule inside the HIV virus that might keep it permanently asleep. 🧬
The molecule, called AST (antisense transcript), can silence HIV by locking it into a deep dormancy so it can’t reactivate. In lab tests, increasing AST levels stopped the virus from multiplying, showing a possible new way to control it.
This finding could lead to gene therapies that prevent HIV from returning, giving hope that one day patients may no longer need lifelong medication. 🌍💉
