*SBSP Leaders Visit Wular Lake in Bandipora’s Bangladesh Village to Revive Halted Tourism*

*Party President Vivek Bali Highlights Neglect of the Region, Urges Government Intervention and Tourist Engagement*

Bandipora, July 20: In an effort to revive the stalled tourism sector in North Kashmir, a delegation from the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) visited Wular Lake, located in the remote Bangladesh village of Bandipora district, on Sunday. The delegation was led by SBSP J&K President Vivek Bali and included Political Advisor Dilawar Singh, North Kashmir Incharge Wajahat Raina, Youth President Srinagar, Bandipora Youth District President Abuzar, Pulwama leader Dara Singh, and other senior party leaders.

Speaking to the media, Vivek Bali stated that the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir has been severely affected, especially following the recent Pahalgam attack on tourists. "Tourism has suffered a huge blow, and places like Wular Lake, which hold immense potential, continue to be neglected," he said.

During their visit, the SBSP leaders interacted with local residents, particularly the fishermen community that relies heavily on Wular Lake for their livelihood. Bali pointed out that the people of Bangladesh village have been deprived of basic amenities such as proper road infrastructure, access to drinking water, and employment opportunities for the youth.

“Our main aim is to boost and revive tourism in Wular Lake, a location known for its scenic beauty, rich aquatic life, and water chestnuts,” Bali stated. He appealed to both national and international tourists to visit the area and experience its natural charm.

Bali further urged the government to take immediate action to address the challenges faced by local shikara owners and fishermen. “They feel ignored by the authorities. We request the government to visit this area, understand the ground realities, and provide all necessary facilities to the local population,” he said.

The SBSP delegation reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the rights of the local people and pledged to raise their concerns at higher forums to ensure development and inclusion in mainstream tourism initiatives.

Appeal to Hon’ble Minister for Food Shri Satish Sharma Ji, Commissioner Secretary Shri Saurabh Bhagat Ji, and Director Food Civil Supplies Dr. Owais Ahmad for Immediate Resolution of Long-Pending Issues of Employees, FPS Dealers, and Workers .– Aijaz Khan.

According to a statement issued to the press, an emergency meeting of the Food and Supplies Employees Association Kashmir was held at the association's central office. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Aijaz Khan, Chairman of the Jammu & Kashmir Employees Joint Consultative Committee and President of the Food and Supplies Employees Association.
The meeting was attended by Senior Vice President Abdul Qayoom Beigh, Convener Muneer Phalgaroo, Vice President Shahnawaz Ahangar, General Secretary Feroz Najar, Secretary Noor Mohammad Bhat, Office Secretary Manzoor Ashbari, Treasurer Fida Mohammad, Advisor Mukhtar Wani, Publicity Secretary Afzal Parmoo, Organizer Iqbal Kanth, Coordinator Saleem Shah, and District President Srinagar Parvez Raja.
A thorough discussion was held on the numerous issues and challenges being faced by hundreds of departmental employees, fair price shop (FPS) dealers, and laborers. President Aijaz Khan and all participants jointly made a strong appeal to Hon’ble Minister for Food Shri Satish Sharma Ji, Commissioner Secretary Shri Saurabh Bhagat Ji, and Director Food Civil Supplies Dr. Owais Ahmad to take all the longstanding and genuine issues of employees, dealers, and workers seriously and resolve them on a priority and urgent basis.
Expressing deep resentment and disappointment over the indifferent attitude of departmental authorities towards long-pending issues over the years, Aijaz Khan said that the employees, dealers, and workers of the Food Civil Supplies Department have been serving the public with honesty, dedication, and commitment — and will continue to do so. However, when it comes to their genuine issues, the higher authorities have only resorted to delaying tactics and have consistently ignored them.
He emphasized that while the Food and Supplies Employees Association has never been in favor of unnecessary strikes or protests, history bears witness that for securing their legitimate rights within the framework of the Constitution and law, they are prepared to make any sacrifice if needed.
During the meeting, a number of critical and pending issues related to departmental employees, dealers, and workers were discussed in depth. President Aijaz Khan and the association’s leadership made a forceful appeal to the concerned authorities to immediately address the following issues on a priority basis to eliminate the widespread frustration and uncertainty among employees, dealers, and workers:
---- Reorganize the Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in light of the career progression of current employees.
------ Address and resolve all genuine issues of the hundreds of working fair price shop dealers and workers in the department at the earliest.
------ Fill the long-vacant TSO posts as per the past practice, through OPG (Own Pay Grade), based on seniority.
------- Eliminate long-standing pay disparities.
Reinstate the department’s enforcement wing and market checking units.
------- Expedite departmental promotions to fill the Chief Inspector and Assistant Director posts under the departmental promotion quota.
-------- Resolve pending service matters of innocent employees affected by natural disasters or accidents without delay.
Several other issues were also discussed during the meeting. The participants expressed hope that the current senior departmental authorities, especially Commissioner Secretary Shri Saurabh Bhagat Ji and Director Food Civil Supplies Dr. Owais Ahmad, would empathize with the hardships of the employees, dealers, and workers and address all outstanding issues with seriousness and urgency.

*JKEJCC Urges Hon’ble CM Omar Abdullah to Resolve the Long-Standing Issue of Freezed Teacher Posts*

Srinagar, 20 July. The Jammu & Kashmir Employees’ Joint Consultative Committee (JKEJCC), under the leadership of its Chairman Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Khan, has expressed deep concern over the prolonged issue of the freezed teacher posts and the continued uncertainty faced by thousands of Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers across the Union Territory.

Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Khan has appealed to the Hon’ble Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally intervene in this matter and direct the concerned authorities to take immediate and appropriate action.

*_"The ReT teachers have served our education system with commitment and dignity for years. It is unjust to keep them in a state of perpetual insecurity under the supernumerary status, which was originally intended to be a temporary arrangement. At the same time, we fully recognize the aspirations of thousands of educated unemployed youth who await fresh recruitment opportunities. A fair, inclusive, and sustainable policy is the need of the hour,"_* said Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Khan.

He further emphasized that *defreezing 50% of the posts without addressing the status of ReT teachers is not a just solution*. Instead, he strongly supported the proposal put forth by JKTJAC and JKTF, advocating for the *creation of regular teacher posts in all existing primary and middle schools,* which would not only ensure job security for ReT teachers but also open new avenues for aspiring educators.

*_"We at JKEJCC stand in full solidarity with the teaching community and believe that administrative delay in resolving this issue will only lead to unrest and demoralization among educators who are the backbone of our future generation,"_* Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Khan added.

He concluded by urging the Hon’ble CM, Hon’ble Minister for Education, the Chief Secretary, and the School Education Department to take urgent and decisive steps to resolve this issue once for all, through dialogue, justice, and constructive policy-making, thus safeguarding the interests of both in-service teachers and unemployed youth.

SRINAGAR, JULY 13: In a historic step to deliver Justice to the Terror Victim Families, the Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today handed over the appointment letters to Next of Kins (NoKs) of terror victims, at Baramulla.
The Lieutenant Governor had met terror victim families in Anantnag on 29th June 2025 and they were assured that eligible NoKs will receive the jobs within just 30 days. The Lieutenant Governor has fulfilled his promise within 15 days and today handed-over appointment letters to the members of the 40 terror victim families. The process will continue till every terror victim family is rehabilitated.
The family members, whose loved ones were mercilessly killed by terrorists, narrated the horrifying incidents and exposed the Pakistan-sponsored terrorists and their sympathisers.
The Lieutenant Governor reiterated his commitment to ensure that the terror victim families will receive the justice, jobs, recognition and support they deserve after years of suffering.
“Terror victim families, forsaken and forgotten, suffered silently for decades. Stories of their loved ones, brutally killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists are being brought to forefront.
Truth about these families was deliberately suppressed. No one came to wipe their tears. Everyone knew Pakistan-backed terrorists were involved in brutal killings but no one provided justice to thousands of elderly parents, wives, brothers or sisters,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor issued a stern warning to the conflict entrepreneurs and asked them to stop spreading narratives that harms the sovereignty and integrity of the country. By propagating the narrative of terror outfits in Jammu and Kashmir, they are disrupting the peace established with blood and sweat, he said.
“For almost three decades conflict entrepreneurs were ruling the roost and even threatened these families. These conflict entrepreneurs had cleverly crafted a singular narrative that painted India as the aggressor and terrorists as victims. This false narrative has been completely demolished. The real victims of terrorism have now exposed Pakistan and terror outfits and unmasked the conflict entrepreneurs,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor assured the people that those days are over when the family members of dreaded terrorists used to get jobs and the killers of common Kashmiris were rehabilitated.
“We are identifying those elements and removing them from government jobs. We will rehabilitate the genuine victims of terrorism. There are certain elements who, at the behest of terrorist-country Pakistan, are still working to nourish the terror-ecosystem. Appropriate action as per the law will be taken against them and we will realise the dream of terrorism-free J&K,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor said that the administration will now reach the doorsteps of all the families who have been waiting for justice for decades and jobs, arrangements for their rehabilitation and livelihood will be ensured. He also assured thorough investigation into the cases of Kashmiri Pandits who were killed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists.
“Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, J&K UT is scripting a golden chapter of inclusive development, peace and social justice. He has paved the way for efficient, transparent and people-centric governance.
Helplines have been set up in districts to register grievances of terror victims. We are receiving hundreds of complaints from the 90s also. In many cases, FIRs were not registered, lands were encroached and properties demolished. I assure the people that culprits will not be spared,” the Lieutenant Governor further said.
The Lieutenant Governor interacted with the families of victims of terrorism and shared their pain and grief.
He recounted the horrific incident of June 9, 1992, when Wali Mohammad Lone's son, Bashir Lone, was shot dead by terrorists while returning home from a nearby mosque in Fatehgarh village, Baramulla. A year later, terrorists kidnapped Wali Mohammad Lone's two other sons, Ghulam Mohiuddin Lone and Abdul Rashid Lone; their bodies were never found.

Raja Begum of Lilam village in Kupwara waited 26 years for justice. In 1999, terrorists brutally murdered her husband, Ghulam Hassan Lone, sons Javid Ahmed and Irshad Ahmed, and daughter Dilshada after they refused to shelter them.

We stand firmly with Raja Begum and all the families of terrorism victims. Efforts are underway by the administration to identify all families who have suffered due to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, the Lieutenant Governor said.

Srinagar, Today – The Food Safety team of Srinagar conducted inspections across Habkadal, Babdamb, and Munawarabad, focusing on street vendors as part of an ongoing public health enforcement drive. These inspections aimed to ensure food quality and safety, while also educating vendors on essential hygiene practices.

As part of a broader sensitization initiative, the team emphasized:

Hand Hygiene: Vendors were advised to wash hands regularly, especially before handling food and after contact with waste or raw materials.

Safe Storage: Guidance was provided on maintaining proper storage temperatures and preventing cross-contamination.

Contamination Prevention: Vendors were urged to use clean utensils, cover food, and maintain cleanliness in and around their stalls, using potable water for food preparation and cleaning.

This dual approach of enforcement and education is intended to build a grassroots culture of food safety. The initiative is being carried out under the directives of Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Administrative Secretary of the Health and Medical Education Department, and Commissioner of Food Safety, Smita Sethi. Officials stated that further such drives will follow, and non-compliance will attract strict action under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
