New York City Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, who declared victory in the Democratic primary for mayor on Tuesday, said that he would arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he ever visited the city.

Zohran Mamdani claimed victory in the New York City Democratic primary for mayor early Wednesday after pulling ahead in the first round of ranked choice voting and receiving a congratulatory call from former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, his main rival in the race. If elected in the general election, he would be the city’s first Muslim and Indian American mayor, according to The Associated Press.
"Tonight, we made history. In the words of Nelson Mandela, ‘It always seems impossible until it is done.’ My friends, we have done it,” Mamdani, a 33-year-old Democratic socialist, told supporters.

Oct 3: The Panchayat and urban body elections are likely to be held before the year’s end in Jammu and Kashmir.
After the successful conclusion of Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in J&K, officials say the local elections will be held by December.

“Preparations are now underway for the Panchayat and urban body elections in J&K. For this purpose security forces deployed to ensure the peaceful conduct of the Assembly elections will remain in J&K until the municipal and panchayat elections are completed,” said the officials.

Officials said that the decision to retain the security forces has been taken keeping in view the high cost associated with to and fro movement and for the redeployment of such forces in J&K.
The terms of office of the municipal corporations in both Jammu and Srinagar expired last November. As per legal requirements, elections must be held either before or shortly after the end of the corporation’s term.

The Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) extends deep hearted wishes to all KP yatris and devotees who have proceeded for the pilgrimage to Mata Kheer Bhawani at Tulmulla and other sacred sites in the Kashmir valley. As they embark on this journey filled with enthusiasm and joy, KPC earnestly requests them to immerse themselves fully in spiritual and religious activities, rather than getting caught up in media engagements.

WE expresses hope that the government will provide all necessary facilities and ensure the safe return of devotees to their homes in Delhi, Jammu, and beyond. Special appreciation is extended to the Union Territory authorities, including Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Jammu, Sh Ramesh Kumar Ji, and Dr. Arvind Karwani Ji, for their efforts in facilitating the smooth departure of yatra buses from Nagrota, Jammu.
The annual Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela holds immense significance for Kashmiri Pandits, with festivities set to take place on the 13th and 14th of this month. The fervor among pilgrims is palpable, with celebrations of Zesht Ashtami garnering widespread attention.
The government's proactive measures to accommodate thousands of KP and other Hindu devotees from across the country are commendable. Arrangements have been made at various holy sites in the Kashmir Valley, including Kheer Bhawani at Tullamulla, Ganderbal, Tikker in Kupwara, Laktipora in Aishmuqam (Anantnag), Mata Tripura Sundari in Devsar, Kulgam, and Mata Kheer Bhawani in Manzgam, Kulgam.

A total of around 8400 pilgrims have registered for the holy pilgrimage this year, with 200 buses arranged for their journey to pay homage to the Goddess Maha Ragnaya. The Kheer Bhawani Mela on Zeishta Ashtami will witness Maha yaga ceremonies performed in accordance with ancient traditions and rituals at shrines across Kashmir.
KPC again extends its best wishes to all devotees and yatris for a safe and comfortable pilgrimage, with prayers for their auspicious return to their respective homes.along with blessings of Mat Raginiya Bhawani for themselves and whole community & country.
Again earnestly requests them to immerse themselves fully in spiritual and religious activities, rather than getting caught up in media engagements.
