This 4,800 sq ft Gurugram penthouse called 'Aanandam' by Logic Design + Build transforms brutalist concrete into an emotional sanctuary where three generations find their perfect expression. From a sculptural sandstone wall that dances with sunlight all day to 100% bespoke furniture crafted in-house, every surface tells a deeply personal story.

The genius? Principal Architect Anuj Kapoor didn't just design spaces—he created architectural love letters to each family member. One room channels traditional Indian aesthetics for the elders, another embraces raw earthiness for the grounded soul, while a third pulses with millennial energy.

But here's what really makes this home extraordinary: it's where light becomes architecture, where brutalist boldness softens into bespoke warmth, and where a 20-year-old structure transforms into something that feels both ancient and utterly future-forward.

Along the calm, glinting expanse of Osman Sagar—Hyderabad’s storied reservoir in Gandipet—a weekend home by 23 Degrees Design Shift (23DDS) () rises in quiet dialogue with its surroundings. Set on a 1.2-acre site and measuring 10,500 sq. ft. in built area, the house is designed as a low-slung, tropical modernist residence that offers privacy, panoramic lake views, and seamless interaction with nature.⁠

Comprising four bedrooms, a spa and gym block, a home theatre, and a separate guest suite with its own bar, the house flows across interconnected pavilions and courtyards that celebrate light, breeze, and material restraint. The landscape design—developed in close collaboration with Studio Gaea—further enhances the site’s natural rhythms, creating a living tapestry around the architecture.⁠

Let’s just say, when your shoot location has more marble than usual, you know it’s not going to be a regular day. Design sketches, factory calls, outfit swaps, and camera rolls that didn’t get a break, Monica and Hardesh kept the pace brisk and the energy sharp.

He moved like clockwork, she edited with her eyes, and somewhere in between, the Essentia story unfolded, layer by layer, lens by lens.

While the marble and mood lighting were tempting, our lens took a detour, straight into the paint booth, past the dust, and into the thick of creation. That’s where we found the black wooden horse… and Monica and Hardesh, totally game to pose with it. Here’s a peek into a day that pulled back the curtain on the craft, the chaos and the conviction.

In the 1800s, the pigment known as “chrome orange” was so unstable it occasionally exploded. Van Gogh still used it. He didn’t care. He wanted colour that could speak louder than words, even if it burned. This Gurugram apartment by Custom Design Stories () sits in that space between restraint and assertion, rooted in greys and earthy neutrals, but marked by a single assertive hue.⁠

The home is named The Orange Dot, and not without reason. Not because it’s a riot of colour, it isn’t. But because in a world increasingly painted in beige, this home dares to wink. It belongs to a young couple with a toddler, and is imagined as a canvas interrupted by a single, deliberate punctuation.⁠

Inside a model flat that doesn’t buy into the label.⁠

The idea of a model flat often comes with certain expectations and norms. Staged furniture, spotless surfaces and a little too much gloss. But at The Pearl Residence, a 4,000 sq. ft. show flat in Hyderabad designed by Designtales (), that script is subtly discarded. ⁠
⁠
The design unfurls with the ease of something unpressured. Instead of a statement-making palette or theatrical scale, there’s clarity to how this space moves, from room to room, and tone to tone.⁠

“We enjoy crafting custom pieces and material details that bring a sense of uniqueness to each project,” says Meghana Nimmagadda, founder of Designtales. “It is a design approach that guides all our designs.”⁠

In this Bengaluru home by Source Architecture (), minimalism isn’t about subtraction but about clarity. The kind that comes when you stop designing for validation. Ember Home, a 1000 sq ft apartment isn’t trying to look bigger than it is. It’s just clear about what belongs, and what doesn’t. Designed by Sneha Ostawal the space is equal parts restraint and resolve. Lime plaster walls, teak cabinetry, a rust-orange steel screen, each material holds its own, no need for extra.⁠

We carefully laced the space with understated luxury to add character without overpowering the atmosphere,” Sneha says.⁠
⁠
Just a home that works because it knows when to stop.⁠
