Imagination found a new canvas on 16th September, at 3 p.m., as the Department of IT unveiled its wall magazine “ALOHA” on the theme “When Things Think” (IoT), transforming the corridors into spaces of innovation and futuristic ideas.

The inauguration was graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Tarun Kanti Jana (Principal, HIT), Prof. (Dr.) Soumen Paul (HOD, IT), Prof. Tamosa Chakraborty (Faculty Coordinator), and other distinguished faculty members, whose presence brought warmth and inspiration to the occasion. A perfect blend of technology and creativity, the magazine reflected the vision of young IT minds who dared to reimagine a world where machines think and connect beyond boundaries. A student presentation further enriched the event, walking the audience through the theme and content, with every element echoing curiosity, imagination, and technical depth.

When technology turns green, the future turns brighter. On the morning of 11th September, 2025 the S. N. Bose Auditorium opened its doors to brilliance. From 10:30 AM onwards, minds from across the globe gathered for the International Conference 'Green Tech 2025', organised by the Departments of Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, and Food Technology, in proud association with IQAC, HIT, Haldia.The main pioneer behind this grand initiative was Prof. (Dr.) Radha Das, whose vision and leadership made the conference a reality.

Adding splendor to the occasion, the event was graced by an illustrious gathering of distinguished guests. Among them were Prof. (Dr.) T. K. Jana (Principal, HIT), Prof. (Dr.) B.K. Dutta, Sri S. K. Das, (Executive Director Technical, IOCL), Shri A. C. Mishra (Executive Vice President & Plant Head, MCPI Ltd & HPL), Mr. M. Patra (Hooghly Met Coke, TCL), Prof. (Dr.) D. Mukherjee (ICS), Prof. (Dr.) H. Chaudhuri (NIT Durgapur), Prof. (Dr.) Madhusudan Sau (IIT Kgp), and Prof. S. K. Das (Former HOD, CU) and other eminent persons from local industries. The morning began with technical sessions where researchers presented their innovative works. The day was marked by vibrant poster and paper presentations by faculties and scholars, showcasing groundbreaking research in green technologies, sustainable practices, and futuristic solutions. These sessions not only highlighted academic excellence but also encouraged meaningful discussions and collaborations among participants. The 2 day international conference concluded with the Prize distribution ceremony and the valedictory session where the dignitaries shared insightful thoughts.

When firewalls meet foresight, innovation finds its guard.
On 10th and 11th September 2025, the EDUSAT Hall hosted the Two-Day Seminar on “Empowering Innovation in Cyber Physical Systems and Cyber Security” (in Bengali), organised by the IT Dept. in collaboration with AICTE-VAANI.

The seminar, coordinated by Prof. (Dr.) Soumen Paul(HOD, IT) and co-coordinated by Ms. Moumita Ghosh(Asst. Professor, IT), brought together brilliant minds including Dr. Sangram Ray (NIT Sikkim), Prof. (Dr.) Sankhayan Choudhury (CU), Mr. Aninda Sankar Sukla (Senior Data Scientist Manager), Dr. Debasish Giri (MAKAUT), Dr. Arup Kumar Pal (IIT ISM Dhanbad), Mr. Tapas Bandyopadhyay (Technical Expert, NABL), Dr. Dakshina Ranjan Kisku (NIT Durgapur), and Mr. Anup Mondal (Version 1), who shared insights on challenges in cyber security, industrial AI, healthcare applications, threat intelligence, and AI-driven solutions in cyber physical systems. The Welding Lab swapped sparks for celebration on 9th September, 2025 as it roared to life in honor of the 9th Foundation day of Team Vidyut. The space known for molten metal and meticulous craft transformed into a vibrant hub of celebration not with the hiss of welds but with the pulse of music, bursts of laughter, and excitement.

The ribbon cutting ceremony set the stage for an unforgettable evening followed by cake cutting, adding a sweet touch to the celebration. Team Captain Shubham Ranjan's speech was the spark that ignited the team's passion and spirit. The real adrenaline rush came with the gokarts display by Team Vidyut filling the lab with thunderous engine sounds. Other Mechanical Engineering clubs like Manab Racing, Aeromech, Nivedita, and ME Club were invited. The evening concluded with an energetic songs and dance performance by 3rd and 2nd-year students, leaving everyone in high spirits.

The session was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Tarun Kanti Jana (Principal, HIT), along with Mr. Rahul Singh (VP, Software, Visteon), Mr. MD Azad (Visteon University Lead), and Prof. (Dr.) Susmit Maity (GM, Training and Placement Cell), among others. Success in competitive exams begins with focused preparation and the right guidance. With this vision, Haldia Institute of Technology hosted the Program Outreach for GATE-JAM-2026, offering students valuable direction and resources to excel in these national-level examinations.

The session was led by Prof. (Dr.) Arun Kr. Majumdar, (IIT KGP) and (Dr.) Madhurima Das, (Programme Manager) Research and Innovation Unit, TCS. The speakers were warmly welcomed with bouquets, setting a cordial tone for the event. They shared key strategies for GATE preparation, highlighted important exam dates, and discussed effective study methods. Students also received detailed notes on preparation techniques, followed by an engaging Q&A session that addressed their queries and exam-related concerns.

On the bright morning of 13th August, Room 5103 transformed into a hub of curiosity and ideas, as the MBSI HIT SC, in collaboration with the Dept. of Biotechnology, set the stage for 'Ecogenesis – Igniting the Future with Microbial Power'.

The event commenced on a note of warmth and honor, as we extended heartfelt felicitations to our distinguished guests and speakers, (Dr.) Sujoy Kumar Sarkar, (Quality Manager at Micro Clinical Laboratory, Haldia); (Dr.) Bomba Dam (Asst. Prof. at Dept. of Botany, Siksha Bhavan), who joined us virtually and our very own pillars of the Department, Prof. (Dr.) Shambo Chatterjee (HOD, BT), Prof. Dr. Radha Rani(Dean, BT, FT & CHE) and Prof. (Dr.) Sugata Manna. Their presence illuminated the gathering, setting an inspiring tone for the day ahead. The first half of the event brimmed with creativity as students showcased their thoughtfully designed posters.
